Default Stockpiling assets: Flynn to Toronto?

Quote:
When the Toronto Raptors traded prized back-up point guard Jarrett Jack to the New Orleans Hornets they lost their primary back-up to Jose Calderon, and while Jerryd Bayless can play some point, he seems better suited to the two-guard spot. The Raptors, too, have been in contact with the Timberwolves regarding Flynn, who would play behind Calderon in the spot once occupied by Jack.

What would be heading the other way to get Flynn.... he'd definitely be a great bench guard to have going forward.

We should have just kept jack....he was a great backup that could start and fill in for Jose "glass legs" calderon.... now we have no point guards that can play the 1 with jose and bayless out.....quickly BC, keep trading players on a weekly basis so its impossible for this team to do anything!

Interesting.

I really like Flynn and having Bayless as the back up to him in the future would be really, really interesting.

I think the cost would be too high though.

I like Flynn but he has to get smarter, particularly given his size. You can't use your speed to blow by guys and head to the rack on every play. He needs to work on keeping his dribble, distributing the ball, and running a real offense.

He is still young, though, and I'd love to see him here in Toronto.

I'd say Bayless can play both spots... don't you think? And bringing in a guy like Flynn would only be a good thing. Not sure the asking price though, but maybe Weems and the TPE?

Jonny Flynn $3,192,000 $3,414,720 $4,329,865 Q-$5,776,040

Jack made too much and couldn't really play the 2. It's a longterm perspective... and not really a major move that would disrupt any of our current trajectory.

I like Bayless at PG. I would hope the plan is to stick with him there. Still pretty impressed that we landed him for Jack who was textbook mediocre at pretty much everything whereas Bayless has the potential to be so much better.

Flynn is a pretty nice player too, but i haven't seen enough of him to really know what i'm talking about.

Flynn and Bayless would be good for a young core, but we should keep Calderon. Someone needs to mentor the young PGs

Bayless is quick but still a little eratic driving thtough the lane. Reminded me of TJ Ford at some points.
Bayless at teh 2......hmmm How well can he shoot?

considering he's a scoring guard, I think he's a decent shooter, but he definitely can get to the hoop, defend at the 2, and play there effectively for stretches. By no means would this mean Bayless is no longer a pg though.

Flynn and Bayless are both scoring points. I'd acquire him for Weems but almost nothing else, don't see that back court being premier ever.

No reason to get Flynn unless we are going to get rid of Caldy. I'm hoping we can bring in a veteran PG (a la Nash) to mentor Bayless.
