Calm your tits. His kids> job. that's what the biggest factor was. I respect that. He's still a Canadian, and he's proud of it. Going to Toronto could hurt his relationship with his family, and you guys insult him for prioritizing his family over a sport or if you wanna really be a shit about it, 'over his country'. I'd say that's over the top, but oh well, you like to be a drama queen or just take basketball way too seriously.... Minus respect pointz for u!

The Lakers made Nash an offer he couldn't refuse. Plain and simple

Ok, this issue needs to go away. First and foremost, people are talking Nash up like he is the Steve Nash from his MVP years. He isn't, and won't be. He's older, and to be honest, if all reports of Lowry are accurate, we got the better player. He was a good story here.

He is a perfect addition to 2 types of teams, a star filled team that needs a guy with his leadership and wisdom to help give them what you need to win it all, or, a low level, young team, that would certainly benefit from having those same qualities mentor young players and teach them what it mans to be a pro, and to win.

Los Angeles = Former
Toronto = the latter.

Thats it. So if its that, you then say, well what do I want. Do I wanna be close to my kids...yes. Do I want a chance to win, well you know, it isn't everything but yeah, I'd love to hold a trophy. Did you put your time in in Phoenix and help them best you could? Yep. Are you up for another rebuild in Toronto? Well maybe, I'd love to play at home but then I'm from BC and we don't like Toronto that much to start, but I would be close to Canada BAsketball. Do you have the internet...yep, so you can work on that from LA, yep... sure I can, all the players are all over the world playing during the season anyhow.

So Steve, where ya going. Think I will pick LA.

It aint that hard to see that. And to be honest, when people get angry at first its fine, its a reaction. To continue to be angry is sick, and its dysfunctional. It become at that point all about the fan, and their own hope sand dream and has nothing at all to do with the player.

We hated T-Mac.....for going home to play in his hometown.
We hated Vince....for giving up on the most poorly manages franchise of our era.
We hated Damon..... for going back to his home area of Portland
We hated Bosh....for going to win a ring.

Of all guys, really, Bosh is the only dude that really deserved any griping...and then....not even that much, hi contract was done, he was free to go where he pleased.

I think this Nash hate has to go away now, the guy didn't fuck anyone over, he made the choice that made him happiest as a free agent. Tell me, what did he owe Toronto, or its fans????

SJ your fourth paragraph will offers some good points and summarizes the Nash decision well. I see no reason for Nash-hate, we didn't get screwed in any way, and if Dwight wasn't on the Lakers I'd be cheering for them to win a ring.

Lowry was the better fit for us. He's younger and will be able to develop with the team. Nash would be here for, what, 3 years max if he stays healthy? He's old. It's not as extreme as getting Hakeem the dream but it's similar. Obviously Nash is still amazing, but there's no telling what some extra time on his aging body will do.

The only thing I want from Nash is involvement in Canada basketball. That's it. Nothing for the Raptors.

Don't know why any of you are surprised or upset, its almost frustrating to read.

He's been on enough bad teams, he's not looking for money. The guy wants a ring. Leave him alone.

Id rather have a younger guy like Lowry anyways, more athletic, potentially with us for longer than Nash's 3 years.

Stop hating.

Playing for the Lakers with Kobe is too great of an opportunity.

umm kinda right. more like:

We hated T-mac... for dangling himself like a carrot infront of management, saying chances were high he'd re-sign only bolt at first chance.
We hated Vince... for a time when he became the most unproffesional athlete i have ever seen - giving away plays to other teams, dogging it like no one could even believe was possible.
We hated Damon: for quitting just because his boy Isiah left the team high and dry. This about how weak that is for a second.
We hated Bosh for being a total dink and talking a talk that he couldn't back up. Oh and also acting a fool through social media.

Damon deserves the least criticism if only because of his young age/immaturity. The rest. fuck 'em.

I have no hate for Steve Nash. Christ, he wasn't even ever on the team. Of course he 'considered' the raptors. They were offering him way more money than anyone else... who wouldn't at least consider that? In the end, it clearly wasn't his preffered choice and that's fine. Colangelo was the one who seemingly put all the eggs in the nash basket.

The problem some have was that he stated two things going in free agency, ones was that he couldn't ever see himself going to the Lakers, two was that he wasn't going to chase a ring. He did both, and i don't buy this "i almost went to Toronto and was thrilled about it" BS.

Ya because Toronto is so much of a further flight than New York where he planned to go first. Or because a 5 hour flight is a deal breaker over 1.5 hours from LA to PHO to see his kids. Not sure why you would try to defend the bullshit he spewed after making a choice to have someone else win him a ring. He can s.a.b.o.d.

for a second I though you mispelled Miami ... then I realized you're talking about Nash.

I really think he wanted to come here, why wouldn't he? He would be a god here, have a chance to do something special (like winning 50 games for the first time ... the bar is much lower in Toronto) and be close to his daytime job ...

LA was just too good of a chance to pass up, can't blame him for that.

it's not 5 hours vs 1.5, it's 10 vs 3, he would also have to return. Add to that the 4 extra hours in waiting times for international flights (2 x 2 hr) and it's more like 5 vs 16 hours for a return flight ... quite a dramatic difference if you ask me ...

It is a further flight, and you make it sound like he actually chose New York. He didn't.
1.5 hours isn't that bad, I have to go through 4-5 hours of busing to see mine. It's annoying as shit (tedious), more expensive, and more of a waste of time. That's a big difference in my book. instead of 3.5 of time you can spend with family/friends, you're spending it on a aircraft (in my case, a bus) trying to pass time. The longer the flight, less visits aswell.

To be clear Nash had every right to do whatever he wanted to as a FA.... just like Bosh (or any other FA did).

I just find it amusing that he had no problem staying and playing for a shyt team for a few years when it was CLEAR that they weren't going anywhere.... and now winning's suddenly so important.

If staying near your family was so important then why even bother to pretend that Toronto was in the discussion at all? Meh.
