Default Stephen A. Smith: Bosh tells Raptors he won't resign: Updated

Cheese Doodles is obviously not the most reliable source, but it's a noteable statement regardless. He says Dallas and Miami are heavily interested.

I do think if Bosh really was intent on leaving Toronto, he'd tell us it early so we won't lose him for nothing next year. Though obviously it won't become public because that would fuck us up

I'd heavily consider Beasely and a 1st with Kapono going the other way. I think that's the best deal out there for us, that or the Gallinari/Chandler/1st thing (though NY can't trade their pick till after draft, so we'd have to wait). If we did that deal now we could back on our feet in 1.5 years with Bargnani, Beasely, Jose, 2 very high lottery picks and a high teens one, and a lot of capspace

We'll see though

Youd accept Beasley and a 20th pick for Bosh?

You do realize that if either of these teams got Bosh theyd make the playoffs and at best we'd have the 16th pick right? Gallinari and Chandler are nice young players, but comeon man, as Marc Jackson would say, you're better than that.

It wouldnt be high picks and that core doesnt look so great to be honest. I like how Bargs has played lately but if you can get a Howard or Butler type for Bargs now with his value being up you take that immediately and try to find a banger type to put next to Bosh. I dont think Bargs and Bosh will ever work unless we got a really good duo at the 2/3 positions to mask their deficiencies at the defensive end, plus a really good coach, its asking for too much.

Ideally, I'd like to see Bargs go for the SF, and then you build from there. Get a Dampier/Rasho type beside Bosh to make him better and more fresh, and build your bench through the capspace we get from JO going.

Even if we somehow get the SF from JOs contract, you still have to trade Bosh or Bargs eventually, and 100/100 it has to be Bargs in the end.

I've been hating on Bosh the last 2-3 seasons because he hasnt become what we all wanted him to in being the franchise guy, but you get a really good supporting cast around him and watch him take off.

Bargnanis lack of rebounding is always going to hamper him unless he turns it around Dirk style which I dont think he'll do. Him and Bosh together just creates way too many problems for us on the defensive end IMO to work longterm.

It's bad news, but it's kind of good news if he's being upfront about not having any intention of resigning.

I'd also take anything Loud Mouth says with a grain of salt. He's had a hate on for Toronto for a long time.

the problem is, Bosh will take so much salary than it will be impossible to surround him with the talent required to contend. On the other hand, Bargnani is basically free for another year, and he will probably get 60% of what Bosh will command when he's renewed. I think it will be easier to build around Bargnani, than around Bosh, from a salary perspective at least. And let's face it, Bosh is what he is now, he's not getting any better. At least with Bargnani you can still dream.

How can you be sure he is not getting any better? He has basically gotten better every year and he is only 24.... ridiculous opinion trying to pass off as fact.

he's basically the same player he was 3 years ago, stats wise at least. That's a FACT.
Yeah, he's marginally better on D, and marginally better on offense as well, but we're talking minimal stuff. What exactly did you see in his game the past 2 seasons, that wasn't there before?

Bosh hasn't improved at all since 2005-06, his third season. In fact, I thought 05-06 was his best season, even if the team record was terrible.

Only when considering the options, if we have to move him. (ftr I'm not trusting SAS but I it's possible with his attitude). Right now what hurts us is that he has to go to a team who will be assured to resign him. Ideally I'd love to get Mayo or something but Bosh won't stay in Memphis. Same with like Sacramento or something. He has to go to a a place like New York, Miami, Portland that would keep him. The biggest deals to me seem like:

A Beasely/1st package
A Gallinari/Chandler/1st after the draft package
An Alderidge and either Fernandez or Bayless package

Right now I'd lean towards the Portland deal after thinking it over. Alderidge/Bargs would be the softest and worst rebounding frontcourt ever, but we could easily move one down the road like Minny with Jefferson/Love. For the time being that would give us the best young core I think. Jose/Fernandez/Alderidge/Bargs/2 high lottery picks is a nice place for a 2010 guy to hop to as well.

I know these deals don't add up to Bosh but superstar deals rarely do, we're stuck here because most of the league knows we're scared of him bolting and his contract situation makes moving him to a shit situation impossible

That's the biggest reason I'd consider moving him, giving Bosh a max deal frightens me as much as him bolting for nothing

Having this public means that:

A. Bosh leaked it to force the trade

or

B. Another team invented this to try to force Raps into trading Bosh

or

C. Stephen A. Smith is assuming this because he thinks that there is no way Bosh can still be happy in Toronto

In any case it will force BC to do something... trade JO, Bosh or do something else.

SAS is full of shit.
theres no way in hell Bosh or anyone for that matter (close to the situation) would leak this... especially to SAS of all people.

I don't think Steven Ass Smith would get info before anybody on this forum. I am sure every team in the league has inquired about Bosh. We are weak so you teams try to take advantage of us. The dude doesn't know shit! Bosh would have had some public outburst first before he told ... Steven Ass Smith anything.

None of those contracts would balance out financially.

In any case, i still kinda trust BC. If he's aware that Bosh wants to bolt, i'd like to think that he'd try to trade him for a decent package before the summer of '10.

Stephen A. Smith is a goof... You can't take anything this guys says seriously. He just sounds so convincing that he makes everything he says sound like facts. I can't stand himi.... I have a feeling Bosh will stay. The question is, is that the best move for the franchise? BC has lots of homework to do.
