i would like to register another vote for westbrook being cancerous! Harsh word, but i agree. And he's much better than jennings or bayless but i think he has a similar effect on his team.

Westbrook is a great player as an individual and i do enjoy watching him when he's flying to the hoop and knocking down shots, but he regularly hurts his team. He had quite a few games in the play-offs where he had more shots than durant, that is absurd. His bball IQ is nowhere near where it should be, he makes way too many brainless plays and he doesn't facilitate those around him to have better games. I honestly think OKC will struggle to win the championship with him at the point. I would absolutely love to see OKC get a huge trade haul by trading westbrook and would improve as a team.

I wonder if we can trade Bayless for Westbrook and have them sweeten with Harden for Ed.

lol, not sure we can quite call that a "huge haul" for OKC(!)

wow, -2 in quick time for my westbrook comment, the NBA hype machine must be in full effect!?

i don't take the ratings thing personally, i can aceept people think westbrook is a top player and that OKC can win a champ with him, but seriously, which of my other points do you disagree with? isn't taking more shots than durant crazy? does he not make a lot of low BBall IQ plays? A lot of bad TOs. Is he a good facilitator?

he's 23 years old, just helped to take his team to the nba finals, and is one of the best scoring guards in the world. perhaps he deserves an opportunity to develop the incomplete aspects of his game before people label him as a cancer?

typically a doctor would try to diagnose a cancer, and not just tell the patient he's going to die as soon as a lump is found.

haha, ok, i'm fine with the removal of the word cancer! I did say it was a harsh word.

westbrook had some excellent games in the play-offs, i did try to balance my argument by saying as an individual he is very talented. I believe one of the best scoring guards in the world should be playing at SG. He did help them in the play-offs, he also hindered them, on many occasions.

he definitely deserves the opportunity to prove himself and he'll get it at OKC, they won't trade him. My belief is he will improve but not change his style and with the tiny margins of the play-offs OKC could struggle with him at the point.

I love how people are taking little pieces of the entire post. Right underneath I stated that these type of guards don't help with the development nor involve their teammates at all. There's a reason why OKC is one of the worst teams in the NBA in the apg category.

I then said that they are all sgs forces to play pg, and it's not like no one knows these guys all love to shoot, shoot, and shoot more.

In no way did I say Westbrook's talent level was comparable to Jennings or Bayless, y'all are trippin'.

when OKC beat the Spurs, people were on the verge of calling Westbrook one of best PGs in the league... he was on the same tier as Rose.
then OKC loses to Miami (who were unstoppable), and people are calling westbrook a cancer.

he's 23. been in the league 3 years.
that is all.

That's society today though. In January Lowry was talked about as an all-star now some would rather keep a crap shoot #8 pick. In December most didn't want Bargnani, 13 games later and he was an amazing all-star player and if anyone doubted the turnaround they were a hater.

In a flash, people change their minds on players. And it really takes very little.

There have been injury issues surrounding Lowry since then..... but agreed on most.

The jose question

i wasn't the one who directly called westbrook a cancer, but there's a link to me making similar points about westbrook back in february. (page 1 and 2.)

just so i'm not labelled as someone who changes their mind from series to series!

Make that two involved sources refuting that offer of Houston's No. 14 and No. 16 and Kyle Lowry for Sacramento's No. 5 and Tyreke Evans.
Toronto- Lowry, #18

Houston- #5, Evans

Sacramento- #8(Lamb?), #14( Marshall?), #16 (Jones?), Davis

who the hell was calling Westbrook one of the best point guards in the league?

I sure as hell never was. Why would I advocate someone who takes more shots than Durant on the regular basis?

Jesus christ y'all need to read, I said that those types of PGs are cancerous to a team's development, I never doubted his skill. He's one of the best guards, sure.

Sounds to me like we'll s Lowry headed to the Kings and we'll be left disappointed yet again.
