You can't do everything with young players! We got dozens of them and how many experienced players we have? 1, Magloire who is not playing a lot of minutes. With that being said, I think we should target Steve Nash, who will still be able to play for a few years and help grow young players + AB is our main scorer and with Nash passes, AB could have one hell of a season. + Nash likes to play pick N Roll, that would help JV a lot. So keep the 8th pick, if u want a PG, draft one and let him learn from Nash for the upcoming years.

An update says that the Rockets are trying to get the #5 and the #8 in an attempt to ship both off in a package for Dwight Howard. I don't got the link, but it was on the realgm forums where I'm lurking.

The Rockets would be better off keeping those picks or else they'd just be renting Howard for a season.

He's going to the Brooklen Nets, the only other team(s) that may have a chance at signing him long term are the Lakers & Clippers.

Nash playing here would be a huge confidence boost for a rookie like JV.

UPDATE (12:48 a.m. ET): Upon hearing of Sunday night's developments, one rival general manager told ESPN.com that he believes Houston's real aim is acquiring two top-10 picks this week to turn around quickly and offer both to the Orlando Magic as part of a considerable trade offer for Dwight Howard.

The Rockets' willingness to trade for Howard -- even without the All-Star center's signature on a contract extension -- is an open secret around the league. But it's believed that two top-eight picks, assuming Houston managed to complete trades with both Sacramento and Toronto, would seriously pique the interest of new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan, who could then quickly start following the same sort of roster-building blueprint relied on by his previous employers in Oklahoma City.

Acquiring those early lottery picks, though, only represents half of Houston's challenge if Howard is indeed the Rockets' target. The other hurdle is convincing Hennigan, who hasn't even been on the job for a week in Central Florida, to part with Howard so quickly. As much as he's been schooled in building through the draft while working alongside Thunder GM Sam Presti, Hennigan could opt to take a more measured approach, make one more run at trying to convince Howard to sign an extension before entering the final year of his contract and then trade him later in the summer if those efforts go nowhere.

I remember Houston was offering us a boatload of stuff for Bosh and then too they didn't worry whether he agrees to an extension.

Sounds desperate for top tier talent, but also sounds the right way to go if they want to compete with the best. Once you have a superstar its easier to get other players to sign.

Rebuilding, top 10 Pick in a draft which is full of talent... And we trade down? lol, I hope this won't happen.

level of talent is quite the same between picks 7-20
If we get Lowry out of this and #14 or #16 we win

So you think Waiters, Lamb, Rivers will be better than Lowry + #14 or #16 pick? If you're so sure one of those players will be better, by all means.......giddy up!

Problem is you have no clue at all about what would happen. To me that type of move is a no brainer. There just isn't much difference in theory between the players that will available @ #8, and what will be available @ #14 or #16.

I wouldn't mind picking up a project SF in Quincy Miller with one of those picks, then signing a veteran to start.

Too bad it would likely mean no Lillard...

Maybe the 14 and 16 the picks could be Marshall and QM, that's a pretty good haul and either player could turn out better than Lillard in the long run.

I would have to think that if they're going to trade Lowry they'll re-sign Dragic. Wonder if they'd be interested in Bayless to back him up.

#8, Bayless (S&T) for Lowry, #14 or #16

The salaries would nearly match.

DeRozan + #8 for Lowry, #14 and #16

I think that would be a fair deal for both sides. Houston gets a potential future all-star and a capable starter at the 2-spot. Or they can use him as trade bait for Howard. We get our point guard and two picks in the first round that we can use or trade for other assets.

even I think that is selling low on Derozan, who we've spent three seasons spoonfeeding.

Lowry is an amazing young pg who can do wonders here... And If we can snag him and Houston's 16, then I'm all over that. The talent Drop off from 8-16 is negligible.
My one issue is that I have a bad feeling the person of interest for Houston is derozan. And I don't think BC wants to Give him up. I don't want to lose him either.

No thanks.

If I'm BC I have no incentive to do this unless Nash is completely off the table.

If this is the case, Houston needs us so we don't need to be rash with any decision. If Nash comes, keep the pick and deal for a 3. If he doesn't, put together a package for Lowry and 1 or both picks.

It's a shame that D12 would leave Houston after just one year to play for their state rival.

Don\t like this...

I'd rather sign Nash and use the 8th pick in a trade for a SF (Iggy / Gay).

Without out the 8th pick we have no way of trading for a 3
