Raptors Stefanski hired as Executive Vice-President of Basketball Operations

Quote:
Philadelphia 76ers executive Ed Stefanski is engaged in advanced talks with the Toronto Raptors to take over as general manager, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Stefanski would move into the franchise’s No. 2 basketball executive job under president Bryan Colangelo. Stefanski, who is in the final year of his deal in Philadelphia and has the GM title, knows he probably won’t be retained after his contract expires, sources said. Stefanski lost his spot as the Sixers’ top decision maker a year ago to Rod Thorn, and now the franchise is waiting for the NBA to approve the team’s sale to a New York investment group.

The Raptors’ list has been whittled to Stefanski and former New Orleans Hornets GM Jeff Bower, sources said.

The Blazers have decided against hiring any of the candidates already interviewed by the club over the past few weeks, says a team source.

Larry Miller, president of the Blazers, began calling those former candidates on Thursday.

The Blazers will create a new list of candidates, focusing on people with extensive general manager experience.

"I don't want to get into specific details, but what I will say is that we are expanding our search," Miller said. "We're going to expand our candidate pool."

Jeff Bower and Ed Stefanski will be among the targets.

"We're not the only team that's taking the time to find the right GM candidate," Miller said. "Other teams are going through a similar process; taking just as long as we are. Toronto and New York are going through this, too. It takes time. My hope is that we find the right person and I don't have to go through this again anytime soon."

Just to name another few:

-Signed Brand to 6yr/ $80 mil contract (although he had an OK season this year, but doesn't really justify the signing)

-Extended Iguodala with another $80 mil

-Traded Kyle Korver, and Philly became league's worst 3 point shooting team at the time

-Signed Eddie Jordan who ended up losing the locker room in less than half a season

Lol, good timing.

I'd put Jrue Holiday as a plus though.

Really? Ed Stefanski? Wow... what the fuck is BC thinking?

-Traded Reggie Evans for Jason Kapono.
-Signed Iverson in '09
-Drafted Evan Turner the bust
-Hired Eddie Jordan as head coach

May as well hire Triano as GM.

He also traded a bunch of pieces of shit for a guy called Vince Carter.
He also hired Doug Collins last year and despite all odds and a terrible start, they played their asses off and made the playoffs.

I still think this is being done mostly for connections, maybe comes in handy during free agency

I love how a player can be a bust after one year. You probably thought DeMar would never be anything after his first year in the NBA.

Yeah, pretty amazing isn't it. In fact, his numbers in his rookie season were close to Derozan's rookie season (Turner is a better rebounder and 3pt shooter). Now did anyone think Derozan was a bust after his first season?

It's amazing how a 22yr old can be deemed a bust, really shows how society is today.

What does IQ have to do with anything? Its facts, if you don't want to face the facts then don't respond to my post.
