Default Star: Rasho" I never wanted to leave"

Source

Quote:
Rasho Nesterovic, a veteran centre very much on the mind of the Raptors now, would like nothing more than to rejoin the team he reluctantly left a year ago.

"I never wanted to leave, it was just a matter of numbers and business, I understand that," Nesterovic said in a telephone interview from his native Slovenia yesterday.

"To come back would be great, I'd love to. Toronto is always and will always be my favourite city."

The interest, according to league sources, is mutual.
No real surprise.

How could you not want a guy like this back in the fold.

He'd be perfect for what we need.

Always loved his reliable mid range jumper. reminded me of Oakley's.

I trust this will get done.

p.s. the offseason Toronto love-in gets bigger.

I like him as a solid back up, he knows how to play the game. You need to rely on your stars and starters to be stars and starters. You need a couple of good agressive motors of the pines, and you need solid vet presence.

Losing Parker hurts, but Rasho replaces a lot of what he brought, he also isn't a liability on defence or offence. Make the call BC.

Unless of course you have another 8 team trade lined up that nets us Kobe Bryant for the MLE

Great, give him the vet minimum or LLE and let's get on with it.

Yea, he's been saying this since he left. Great guy off the court, and knows what his role is on the court. BC should definitely get him to bang down low with the bigger guys that Bargs will struggle with.

Yeaaah baby! He'd be perfect playing 10-15minutes at C off the bench. Solid reliable defender and rebounder with a good mid range jumper. And he loves the city ...what more can u ask for.

And he can always fill in and play 20-25minutes if we get hit with injuries.

Rasho will be a good piece to have back. He would have even been a big help last year.

Solid player, classy guy, great teammate, wants to be here, loves the city. More than a welcome addition.

I get goose bumps when I hear players say they love Toronto and would love to be a Raptor. It's not very often we hear those compliments but something tells me we're going to start hearing it alot more in years to come.

Raptors really need a tall back-up big man with bulk. Reggie Evans is nice, but he should be guarding power forwards. Remember how Shaq killed us in Phoenix. We need a center who can guard Dwight Howard, Shaq, Bogut, Big Z, Kendrick Perkins in the East. We will get destroyed in the post and rebounds. Rasho should be a priority.

Let's be serious, Rasho can't guard any of those guys. It's going to be up to Bargnani to continue to make strides defensively, as well as the team improving as a unit at that end of the floor. Rasho will make a serviceable back-up, playing limited minutes to allow Chris and Andrea to catch a breather, nothing more.

Don't forget that rebounding was the teams biggest problem when Rasho was the starting 5 here.
All that being said, he's one of the few Raptor cast-offs everyone seems to pine for that I'd welcome back with open arms.

tsk tsk.

I'll give you that Rasho isn't the best rebounder for his position, but when it comes to defending big bodied, traditional centers, Rasho did very well when he was with us 2 years ago. I recall Howard being Nesterobitched on a few occasions.

Its true the team has to improve as a unit defensively to be able to compete on nightly basis. Rasho will be a back-up, but if you're going against these centers who use their bulk and weight to gain the advantage in posting you up or grabbing boards, I'd rather have Rasho guarding these centers than Bargnani. Big Z, Bogut, Shaq completely abused Bargnani in the post last year. Rasho should be playing more when we play these teams.

People are comparing us to Phoenix Suns or the Kings of 2000. Remeber those teams had a lockdown defender. Phoenix had Raja Bell and Sacramento had Christie. BC has gotta get a lockdown wing defender with his next acquisition. I still don't like Delfino. He's a solid defender, but there is a reason Raptors let him walk last year. He is a inconsistent player who shot 38% from the field.

rasho would look great coming off the bench and banging on shaq and dwight! if we can sign him, i am sure BC is trying to see if he can get it done! that would give us a respectable front court and a young and exciting back court lead by the best non-all-star pg in the league!! a solid shooting guard is our need, but i like the way the team is filling out! more moves by BC to come... i am getting excited again!
