Spending money. Dare to dream.

I assume everyone knows how collective bargaining usually works? Everythning seems extreme at 1st and they narrow the difference between the 2 sides up until the last hour, each side hoping the other one blinks. Then if no one gives, they end up in a work stoppage.

I for one think there will be a hard cap, but not something like 45 million like the league says. Perspective....the Lakers , Mavs, Magic are about double that right now.

So even if they made a hard cap at 70 mil and slashed all salaries at 20% (extreme), a lot of top teir teams would be unable to sign any free agents.

Teams like the Raptors could have a ton of money to spend because they are not one of the financially hurting teams.....15 mil? 20 mil?

nice list ammo. thanks for posting. unfortunately not too many guys on that list that i think we could get and that would be difference makers. brooks? stuckey?? thad young? i don't see us landing gasol, chandler, nene or jordan... i don't want any part of dalembert, and i'm afraid of what he might cost. a bit depressing, really. too bad we can't simulate 2 or 3 seasons, nba2k style.

Don Vito 04-03-2011 07:25 PM

I say we draft Walker and sign DeAndre Jordan or take a gamble with Greg Oden.

i would be down with that. I'd be leaning more towards Jordan/Chander (but im sure dallas will keep him) than Oden purely basedon fragility lol.

Gasol would be awesome too.

Kirby 04-03-2011 07:49 PM

Wilson Chandler, DeAndre Jordan.

FoldedLaundry 04-03-2011 09:46 PM

Gasol seems reasonable, Oden I would take a shot at. With Bayless playing well, draft Irving or Walker and I think we'll do fine.

If Kurt Thomas still has a year left in him I'd like to see him here. Somebody like that. Solid vets that aren't going to be a big expenditure. I don't want to see any attempts at hitting a home run through free agency. Not at this point for sure.

MISAM38 04-03-2011 10:34 PM

Chandler could give us defense, and a few of those point guards like Mo Williams or Rodney stuckey or even small forwards like Caron Butler or Thad young could give us a boost on our limited offense. Wouldnt mind Nene, he plays smart basketball.

Ammo 04-03-2011 10:53 PM

I think we are seeing how athletic this team can be. Some of them are running on athleticism right now, so when they add experience they could be a team that other teams hate to play.

I am on board with picking up a PG or SF in the draft and finding a centre in free agency. I like Gasol here, but Chandler and Nene might fit the speed and athleticism they seem to be heading for.

Also, can't say that Bayless is a stud after 2 good games, but you no longer feel that Jose absolutely must stay if a young PG is drafted.

What to do about Reggie. He has worth on this team.

Those are names that will never be in a Raptors uniform. Mo and Stuckey are overrated, I'd rather have Jose and Bayless. Plus we might draft a PG. Butler isn't going to go from Dallas to the Raptors. Nene was closing to being an all-star this year and his team is one of the hottest in the West right now. Very probable he will finish his career in Denver, which ends in like 2-3 years. Thaddues Young is possible, but he's just another PF and another undersized center.

Who ever thought Jose MUST stay?

2-3 years? More like 7-8 years.

He said he's done in like 2-3 years and he's going to become a priest in his country or something along the lines of that.

Those who consider/considered Bayless incapable of running a team. That kind of thing changes quickly. It was only about 5 months ago that Demar was "a bust".

WHAT? Thats only IF we draft a pg. Mo and Stuckey arent overrated and i would be happy with just one of those pgs along with bayless than calderon. Mo Williams will boost our offence and he can make touches, and same with stuckey although hes more on the offence. Thad young btw is a small forward, get ur facts straight. I dont think they would ever make him play the C position. Hes young , athletic and puts up good numbers that go on well on this young/athletic team.

MISAM38 04-03-2011 11:57 PM

I actually never hear stuff about Rodney Stuckey. Have no clue where u got the slitest idea that hes overrated. I would says he underrated. Definetely better than Calderon. Mo i would agree is a bit overrated but hes still better than Calderon

Chiggmo 04-04-2011 12:03 AM

Draft a PG, sign Wilson Chandler and Deandre Jordan and/or Gasol and were set for life. Ya I'm dreaming I know, but hell let me.

I know, I said we MIGHT draft a pg. I didn't say anything wrong about Thad Young, I just got his position wrong on a team I never watch.

Jose is 5th in the league in assists so yeah I prolly would pick him over those two guys if it's just for one more year. He also knows everyone's tendencies so to bring in another new scoring PG when you already have Jose would be dumb. We have enough scoring to go around, Jose is the one that distributes the ball the best on the team and out of those other PG's.

Mo averages 6 assists with 14 ppg this season on 39% FG and 30% 3FG along with only playing 50 games.

Stuckey averages a 4 assists with also 14 ppg on 43% FG and 28% 3FG. Another pure scoring PG.

Jose averages 9 assists with 10 ppg on 44% FG and 37% 3FG.

Mo and Stuckey aren't much better if at all.

lankganglia 04-04-2011 12:44 AM

signing Kyrylo Fesenko might be realistic, if we can get him for cheap...another 7 footer on the roster is never a bad thing

forme123 04-04-2011 02:17 AM

chandler or nene at centre, tayshaun or battier at sf, and as for pg....meh lets just hope for irving instead...
