Speights available....thoughts?

As a temporary solution if a big name FA slips away (TC, Nene, Dally, Etc) and while the team waits for Jonas.

When the NBA offseason begins following resolution of their collective bargaining agreement, the 76ers will be interested in trading Marreese Speights.

Speights hasn't meshed well within the style of Doug Collins.

If the team can trade Speights, they would like to use their free agent money to sign a solid, power big to start at center.

Spencer Hawes, who will be a restricted free agent, is considered a backup.

Depends on what the Raptors have to give up.

I'm not that big on Speights though. He's only 6-10, might as well just put Ed Davis. And Speights doesn't have a good work ethic, I don't think his personality will help the team.

Bargnani and Barbosa for Iguodala and Speights

Ed is 6'9" and is just too light to play center. Speights has the tools, could Casey bring it out though? and it is temporary, he might make a nice back-up.

If there is an NBA season, I'm very intrigued on what Alabi can bring to the table. He works hard, has a good shot and can swat some shots. Honestly, I'd rather work with Alabi than go with Speights.

Ya, Speights is a mere image of what Davis was last season. I hope Alabi gets some burn at center.

can't shoot

Although he did put up like 18 in a Philly win over P-Town last year. But it was all garbage baskets.

I know he play C, but isnt he more like PF? I think hes more like PF, fast, athletic but not big or strong enough. Davis is listed 6'10 and if he really sleeps in the gym, he can turn into better C than Speights.

Anyone who becomes available, theres a thread on RGM. We already have 3 'PF's now that Bargnani has conceded he isnt tough enough to play center, why would we want an overweight low IQ chucker who plays no D?

Call him a chucker, b ut he is most definitely clutch. I remember several big baskets he made from midrange

i'm gonna go somewhere in the middle of the debate. I do quite like and rate him but don't want us to get him. Not the C we want and like others have said, well stacked with PFs.

Admiral 07-04-2011 05:35 PM

we're stacked at PF, he's a good player but not good enough, if we are to get another for the PF then he better we well worth it, and he isn't
