Once DeMar adds the 3 ball to his arsenal, his game is gonna be insane.

komot 02-24-2011 06:14 PM

i'd prefer if he stayed away from shooting 3's. stick to learning to create a fade shot as in closing situations his drive to the hoop spin move might not always work.

Dark Knight 02-24-2011 06:17 PM

If he would be able to stick an open 3 that would be nice.

The Jordan esque fade would be much better. How many times did Jordan get to the line doing that move.

Crucial summer coming up for his development. I hope he goes H.A.M.

i agree !

He doesn't need to be ray allen. He needs to become like wade who can hit the occasional three so teams respect him instead of just packing the paint on him.

But don't become a chucker and fall in love with the three ball like wade and lebron often do.

Scully 02-24-2011 07:38 PM

He just needs to focus on being aggressive. Whether that is behind the line or in the paint. I've said it before, but he needs to get to the line more often, this team is one of the worst at getting to line, and with his skill set and shot selection he should be avg. at least 6 a game. Case in point I think the raps starters had one FT in the loss to the Bobcats.

Exactly.

If he can shoot a respectable percent from 3 point range it'll open up the floor even more for him. He already has the speed and quick first step.

Along with that, a nice fade away off the spin would be nice too.

Off Topic: I want a DeMar DeRozan Toronto Huskies jersey. :yeah:

3 point shots are pretty but they're low percentage. I'd rather we be an aggressive team instead of one that likes to shoot 3s.

don't speak so soon

He doesn't have to launch 3s all game. It changes the way people will defend him if he is at least a threat of making the shot when he's open.

I'd like to see DD develop his game into something similar to D.Wade. A player that loves to drive the ball but can make open 3's and jumpers, with consistency, if you let him.

man he doesn't need the 3. last thing i want from a slasher is the 3 ball. what he needs to work on MOST is his footwork, handling, and DEFENSE. 3 ball means nothing

+1
what he needs to work on is being an unstoppable slasher and lockdown defender.

EggsToTheBBQ 02-24-2011 09:56 PM

I'd like to see DeMar increase his range. But, there's other areas of his offensive repertoire that should see more work.

DeMar has shown that he is excellent at moving off the ball. If he could develop his catch and shoot he could be deadly, especially since he's such a risk to catch and drive.

Also, his handle still needs some work. He's definitely more mature this year. He takes his time, relies on his first step to gain an angle, picks his spots (doesn't run into the help), and is much less turnover prone. But, he still doesn't look great with the ball. He just needs more reps. He's got the right approach, though.

Those two things are more pressing than increasing his range.

i think his priority should be to gain some bball IQ
in terms of skills he should focus on developing his handles and defense, handles is the critical skill because it'll help him get the shot he wants off and allow him to pass and get his teammates more involved all while expending less effort

I agree with this. I wouldn't mind seeing him work on his rebounding either and his passing skills.

It should improve as he matures and he has a great work ethic which is great going forward.
