Sonny Weems not coming back to Toronto!
Sonny Weems says an NBA return this season is likely. Just not with Toronto.

Yeah, another mediocre player taking up a roster spot. We need that like we need a hole in the head. If we change the name of our team, it should be the Toronto Hamsters. The logo whould be a simple hamster wheel. Last edited by jeffb; 02-07-2012 at 04:54 PM. |

he would be an awesome guy coming of the bench who provides that spark both on offense and defense. He is better than quite a few people on our roster already, so i dont know why you would complain

Because those players are here temporarily and we need real upgrades. Why waste capspace on someone llike Weems. Why not bring Joey Graham and Jamario Moon back too. |

I'm pretty disappointed if BC hasn't placed at least one phone call to Weems in all this time. Not saying that he should be flying over to Lithuania to take him out to dinner but just staying in touch would have made good business sense.
In spite of what some will say, the fact of the matter is that he has good size, he's an athlete and he showed some decent all-around skills when he was here. I would have liked to have seen him play under Casey. And then taking into account his friendship with DD as well? And the fact that he would have been a cheap signing (I'm assuming)? Ugh. This will probably come back to bite us at some point. |

This doesn't say he's NOT coming back to Toronto, he's just saying that he hasn't read much about them wanting him back, which doesn't entirely make sense as we still own his rights if I'm not mistaken. His road back to the NBA will be through Toronto regardless.
If he's cheap, he's worth keeping for a season under Casey imo, especially if don't retain Barbosa over the next 6 months. |

Hes saying we dont include him in our plans. Where has this man been? He sign a contract overseas before anyone at the bargaining table in NY could sneeze. He didnt care where he played as long as he was getting playing time. My guess would be to cash in from those extended minutes from last years "what is defence?" philosophy and this years prorated numbers in Europe. Try to get some value because he shown hes an athlete. Let him test the market and good luck to the team thats willing to throw money weems more money.
