Why it just shows that anyone can have good stats in 35 minutes? Brings some of you guys back to earth. Barbosa making 7,000,000 off the bench. Amir making 5,000,000 of the bench for another half a decade.

This organization needs to choose between Kleiza and Weems. Can't have two guys fighting for minutes making 5,000,000 each. Already have Jack/Calderon doing that.

Kleiza already has a contract. If you can sign Weems for 4,000,000 look to trade Kleiza for nothing or a cheap contract to get him off the books. Pointless to pay both guys good $.

Sonny is continuing the run that he started at the end of last season. He's been the most consistent Raptor when given minutes. Check his game log. He's been producing at this rate for a while now. Only two poor games this season (against the Knicks 20min 2/6 6pts 2ast 1blk 1to and Kings 18min 3/10 6pts 2ast 3reb 1stl). Even those games weren't terrible.

The guy looks great out there. He's playing with confidence. He knows where his shots are. He can drive, shoot, get his teammates involved and play solid D. Right now he is our best guard (he's better at the 2 than the 3, so the Kleiza comparisons are irrelevant).

If he continues to produce I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a contract similar to Amir's. No doubt other teams are starting to notice and he's getting closer to the top of the scouting report on the Raptors.

Sonny is looking great. My argument is that we can't sign expensive contracts to guys that are fighting for the same position. Sonny won't start in front of DD. Plus you have Barbosa in the mix at SG. If we're talking him as a SG then it would be dumb to sign him for that position. You can gamble on Barbosa whose contract is done during the 2012/2013, but then you'd have to do something with DD. Sign him to a good deal to and fight for the SG position?

So it's relevant to discuss the SF position. If Sonny is the better fit, then Toronto needs to trade Kleiza. No point paying both guys 5 mill. Of course when Barbosa is gone then Weems can be a backup to both DD, Kleiza. That may work but I don't know if its worth the money. Plus you have to take into account who we will draft. We're probably going to be a high pick and it can be a SF.

Bottom line, Weems is going to go to a team that will pay him well and needs him. Toronto is stacked with guards/sfs. We need a defensive C or PF.

Sonny's a 2/3 and Kleiza's a 3/4, both have a place on the team. I doubt that Wright and Barbosa are in the Raptors long term plans, though if Jack or Calderon are moved then Barbosa could become the secondary PG. Also, at this point DeMar isn't consistent enough to be averaging over 30 minutes per game.

We'll probably have to wait and see how the roster changes next summer, but my guess is that Sonny isn't going anywhere, and if he continues to play this well then the coaching staff will find minutes for him.

its funny how much time we spent on developing Joey Graham, and then Sonny comes in and does what we thought Joey would do

not sure why this gets a facepalm. it was hypothetical in the first place, wasn't it? "if he continues to put up these kinds of numbers"

He's one player the Raps shouldn't over pay if there looking to bring him back but it has to be off the bench.

I agree... Weems is worth keeping on a mimimum contract at rockbottom cost. If not, he's not good enough to keep.

anything for 3mil/season or less and him accepting coming off the bench is fine. i'd rather resign barbosa for 4-5mil a season than have sonny.

If it means giving Weems Money over Barbosa... Let Weems go...

I still think this team needs Barbosa off the bench for instant offence vs 2nd unit's... ball hog or not..

BARBOSA >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> weems
That is an understatement.
Weems for 4 years, 12 million.
7th or 8th off the bench.
Energy, hustle, volume shooter, at least attempts to play defense sometimes, and really nice in the open court.
Could be a great insurance policy at the 2/3 for injuries.

I wouldn't give him more then 2yrs/4Mil with a team option for a 3rd at 2.5Mil. This guy is still not proven whatsoever. Anything more then two guaranteed years would be nuts imo.

"money" weems will not get large offers on the market due to his injury. back spasms are common, and if it takes a player out for two months once, it makes any GM think twice. throw at him 3mil/for 4 years rising by 5percent each year. if he says no, im sure you can sign equal if not better talent with his money+mle.
