Default Sonny Weems

is terrible. If Demar is in the running for most improved player, Sonny should be in the running for Most umm Worsened (is that a word) Player. What the hell is the opposite of improved?

Bah!! He needs to get waived.

i feel like you just discovered the crappiness of weems when a bunch of us have been preaching this for most of the season

the guy is a chucker but has no shot, the worst part about him is he thinks he's a 3 point shooter because of the 1 3 he made in orlando early in the season that won the game
he has no ball handles so when he's running the break he loses the ball and can't beat his guy off the dribble, he's got no muscle, his dunks are always the same 2 hander
his casual play and friendship with demar actually takes away from demar because demar hangs out with him too much and thinks being chill is the way to go
he has no court vision to pass the ball unless he sees its demar, his defense is ridiculously bad
he brings general shame to the #24 of mopete, anything else you want to add?!

Zero potential, I'm sorry. I wish I was wrong though, he seem likes a cool guy(other than saying that shit about his role). Prove me wrong Sonny!!!! I want that Orlando Magic game winner Sonny back.

Improved ability to push the ball in transition, use to make low % passes or plays. Very decent role player but nothing more. He is able to knock down a mid range J consistently and a bit spotty at the 3. Definitely needs to work on selection and playing within himself but I don't really blame him for wanting to do more especially in a contract year where he hasn't had consistent minutes since the injury.

Now his starting position belongs to James Johnson so he has to prove himself all over again. Also, if/when Kleiza comes back and the Raptors possibly drafting Barnes, most likely Weems and Juju are gone since Kleiza is not tradeable since of his injury and contract length. I think Johnson is here for the long term so there's going to be no space for Weems unless he ends up backing DeMar at the 2 if Barbosa is traded.

I'm not sure why people had any expectations of him anyways. He was a 2nd-round pick. Expecting a 2nd-round pick to be awesome is a little unfair, isn't it? If you know someone has limitations, how can you criticize him if he can't exceed them?

Weems is the most underrated player on this team. If you look at the majority of the games when he's been healthy you'd see he isn't a one dimensional "chucker". It's like one person said it and it snowballed and a bunch of people are blindly saying it. If you look at his stat you'd see he hasn't gotten worse.

Weems does have a TO prob but so does JJ. He has been good for the most part this season when he's been healthy.

In offseason he was requested to become backup ballhandler and dedicated shooter for the team.

Then trades (successful and failed one) made it unnecessary, but he still tried to dribble and shoot too much.

Once in a blue while Triano does the right thing and puts him in as defensive stopper against star PG or SG. And it works out great.
But mostly we are forced to watch him struggle against SFs, while Calderon and Demar keep getting burned.

Weems is the classic example of NBA player who could be useful, but his own brain gets in the way. Be it taking stupid shots, playing lazy, over-dribbling into a defender, or as we all heard saying stupid shit to the media.

Now i will disagree with some in that i think he does have potential and *can be* a useful player, but again the only thing preventing that from happening is himself. I won't miss him if he's gone.

I really think his marketing banners and billboards outside of the ACC have fucked up everything. Thanks Tom Anselmi or whoever came up with that one. Idiots.

Instead of look at his best friend Derozan, he should look how Arron Afflalo changed his career. Detroit gave up on him. In Denver, Arron got minutes playing defense and played his role on offense.

much to what fancy said, weems is just a player who was in over his head when it came to expectations and responsibility. it's definitely not a players fault when a franchise/fan base sets unrealistic goals for an average bench player to become something he's not and he fails becoming it.

i'm not concerned whether or not we re-sign him this offseason, but the dude is going to find work somewhere where he can have moderate responsibilities and be asked to be the player that's in his realm. expecting him to become a starter and a 15-20 scorer is something that's going to leave you disappointed. being a solid 8th-9th man and putting up 8-9 points a game is something more realistic. that's the type of player he has the potential to become.

the whole Young Gunz thing inflated his ego a bit and made him think he's going to be an integral part of the future. He has a solid skill set, I commend him for trying to expand his game, but he should really find a niche and stick with it. you're not gonna be kobe, but you can be raja bell and there's nothing wrong with that

He turned into a chucker. The old Weems would bring alot of energy offensively and defensively, now he doesn't bring any of it.

if this is improved ability to pus the ball in transition then we're screwed, the guy loses control of the ball going straight up the court like half the time
able to knock down the mid range J consistently, his consistency is like 20%

Did Weems rape you or something? It seems like you're out to get him, everything you said is false.

It seems that you both have embellished your points. Weems isn't the most underrated Raptor, but he also isn't a 20% chucker.

He's a great 8th man in that he has the potential to bring energy, offence and defence.... I just don't think he knows his role yet. I'd love to be a part of his exit interview at the end of the season.
