He was very impressive in last night's game. The trade that brought him and Amir is looking more and more lopsided in favour of the Raptors.

I actually think he's the most athletic guy we've got on the roster. maybe i just haven't seen enough of derozan yet, but he doesn't strike me as a jump out of the gym kind of guy. his athleticism isn't overwhelming. again i may have not seen enough of him.

Sonny is in the greatest shape he has been in his career. Though it looks like DeRozan is going to have to start so he doesn't play like he did when he came off the bench the last couple game. Belli and Wright should be the first off the bench behind Hedo and DeRozan, though Weems is putting up a pretty good fight. Weems=Moon?

What about POB showing some good flashes on d?!

That windmill was sweet. When he lift of and move the ball backwards I though he took off too far away and was going to make an embarassing attempt of a layup and miss it or something. Boy did he suprise me. Maybe its because we havent had many athletes in the team lately (ok we had Moon, but he only had nice dunks in the first season when opponents hadnt realised he is actually part of the game and no one defended him). Its going to be nice to see Sonny and Demar with some athletic dunks this year. Even if Sonny only plays garbage time.

When you think about it.... Weems could very well give us what we thought we were going to get this season from DD. I've been very impressed with him so far as well.

He and Reggie are my favourite Raps so far.

Nice to see that Banks isn't looking like a complete waste of space either.

as long as he knows where his place is in the offense and as long as he doesn't do his best Jamario Moon impressions, i'll be happy.

Dude was fantastic last night. that's for sure.

I thought the alley-up from Banks was the awesome. Totally awesome.

I think it's fair to say Weems is more polished than DeRozan at this point but DD still has more upside and that is why he will get more minutes and more development. The best thing that can happen to Weems is he shows something special and works his way up like Arenas did and like Redd did or to a lesser extent, Calderon...but that's the best case. Worst case he's let go or included in a trade again. What likely will happen is he'll turn into another Joey Graham...just do enough to stick around for a while, fill in when needed but not be consistant enough or good enough to become a regular rotation guy. DD is going to get the burn because he's BC's draft pick and is billed to be oozing potential out of his pores.

Weems is more aggressive than DeRozan - he knows that if he fails to impress this could be it for his NBA career.

I like his hops and his timing.

It's only preseason but Weems is showing great potential.

Lets not go nuts. Hes had some nice dunks but he cant shoot and he over helped way too much in the 1st game leaving Kapono open multiple times. Theres a large gap between him and Derozan. Sonny is the kind of guy you want on the end of your bench though. Its a lot better having a young athletic guy than the old complaining guy weve had seemingly forever

I liked him for his offensive decisions, he seems to have a good understanding of what to do on offense. Defensively, it was hard to judge, he might have been overdoing things, much like banks took ball pressure to an extreme level ... In any case, he's way better than the average 14-15th player on nba rosters (for those teams who even have a 14th spot).

I honestly have no real idea what he may have to offer, but I sure as hell enjoy seeing him fly through the air.

I don't think we're seeing another JaMario Moon find just yet but that man has some great gifts. He will find his ass parked on the bench for this year but here's to hoping he works his ass off and finds his way into the rotation down that road. He has possibly the best situation that a project could hope for. No pressure, a hall of fame wing man in Alex English as a mentor and lots of competition in practice from the likes of DeRozan, Bellineli, Johnson and Wright.

What got me excited more than his hops, was just his speed. That could come in very handy down the line. It'd be nice if he was able to put some pressure on some opposing defenses with those jets.

i'll enjoy watching Weems during garbage time when the game is pretty much over with...
he'll keep me tuned in when we're down by 20 (or up ) and theres 4 minutes left in the game. i'm sure he will have a big dunk or two.

the guy's shot is bad... and i dont think he's the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I remember watching him in college and I though he could be an energy bench player
hopefully he can be that for the team

When I said "this was what we expected from DD" I was referring to the high-flying dunks.... not his complete game. He still has room to grow obviously.

But I don't think that gap between Weems & DD is nearly as large as you think. We'll see how it pans out though.

He's got a good motor. He may never need to have a shot if he is able to keep that motor running when needed. It's going to be a matter of whether he finds a good fit here at some point or not. Definitely a prospect worth keeping note of.

There are many Sonny Weems (athletic/can't shoot) roaming around in the SEC and college ball
