Raptors Someone tell the producers of Raptors televised games... to actually show the game!!!

This is kind of a online survey to get support for getting the Raptors television production team, to bloody stop cutting away from the action. I love Jack Armstrong and Devlin... but in the middle of a break-away if I see them talking instead of seeing someone dunk again. I'm seriously going to flip out.

Are the people that produce the Raptor games even fans? I mean, even when people play the video game version of NBA basketball (EA sports, ESPN...etc.)... no one uses the floor camera view to play... because it's disorienting and doesn't show the flow of action. There's a reason why the side profile view has been the standard, in all sports for decades. (and their respective video games as well.) It show's what's happening currently and also allows the viewer to see the play developing.

How pissed off would you be if in a hockey game they were doing that bloody floor view from the other side of the rink, and you missed the goal because a tonne of players were in the way of the action. That literally happens once a Raptors game. NOw I realize they bought a tonne of new cameras, and they really feel like they need to make it worth the money. But if you're going to do that... quick cut shots can be used... but don't stay in that view for a straight 20 seconds.

Now don't even get me started on all the plays that we miss because someone in the audience is being showed.

STOP THE INSANITY!!! Show the game!!!

Discuss.

Raptors

So I found someone who had the same complaint... thought I'd post an except from it.

I have found it (as well as my friends and family) increasingly difficult to watch Raptors' games on any of the various channels that it's being broadcast on. I/we find that half the game is missed because the camera shots of the game are off on someone that is being talked about (while the play is still going on) by the announcers or by some ridiculous camera angle that, although I'm sure makes it more interesting for people who don't watch basketball regularly, is really frustrating because you cannot see what it happening during the play. Sometimes the angle prevents the viewer from seeing the play develop because some players are off screen and other times, the play is just too far away to truly be able to enjoy the game. I have a 50 inch TV, my friends and family watch on no less than a 40 inch TV (all HDTVs). I can only imagine what others think with smaller TVs. I would write more...

To be honest i like it when they change up the views sometimes. How the hell do you expect them to know when a sick dunk is going to happen, and even if they did it less frequently you would still miss stuff.

after tonight's performance - I'm all for cutting away to just about anything

but seriously - this has been going on for years now - I still get mad, but I almost don't even notice myself getting mad. It's like driving in Toronto on a Saturday afternoon. Eventually you forget that rules of the road ever existed anyway.

Nice post.

I fully agree. I hate the floor views and they should not be focusing on the broadcasters or a replay when a play is developing.

Totally agree. The boys in the truck have been terrible for quite some time.

Seriously? I can only assume you misread things.

That's why they should do the side shot... so you don't miss that stuff. (Dunks, someone getting into a fight... the ball getting passed off a ref's head.... etc.) You don't see the play developing if you can't see the court. (i.e. low ball view... or sky view from the opposing side.)

I'm not saying to use all those other views when you need to be able to tell if someone's stepped over a line on a shot. Or if you're trying to do a montage of different angles for a really good dunk that happened. (preferably, after a play stoppage not in the middle of another potentially good dunk opportunity.)

No, i ment it would be very humdrum if they did constant shots of the floor from the side view. When they do different camera angles its only for a few seconds anyway, i do agree that they put replays at stupid times and you miss some of the action, but from different angles you could still see whats going on.

I agree.

One play that we didn't see that sticks out in my mind is the one where after a bucket Jose stole the inbounds pass and scored.

i guess i dont feel as strongly as you guys do. i'm fine with them cutting off the game for like 10-15 secs to show the arena/announcers every now and then to change it up. it's not like it happens often anyway.. also they only show replays after timeouts/fouls

lol to that...

Yeah, switching over from telegraph to Television, takes some time, including a whole new level of nob switching dexterity that need to occur. As Canadians from the 4 corners of our country adjust to the magical picture box... I suppose being patient is the only thing we can do for now..... um.. or hire a monkey to randomly hit buttons. (I think we'd get just as many varietal shots that way.) lol.
