It may happen as they're mainly focusing on Bargs this season sending him to big man camp.
I still think that we can't rely on him too much..

I think we need to look back at his rookie season and see what we saw there.

Plus, defensively he was a better player than last season and that's something I think alot of people were/are neglecting. He played solid defense on Dwight in the playofs and in many other games this season. You gotta remember that playing good defense takes far more out of the body than playing good offense.

If Bargs receives good conditioning this season/offseason, which I think was his biggest problem too many times he would be huffing and puffing, then I think he'll be fine.

His defense did improve, but his rebouning and shooting was worse. I can understand how a 7 feet player with that abilitie and athletisim cant get more than 9 points and 4 rebounds a game or whatever it was. Its his mental situation Im worried about.

Again, I think that he was just working his ass off defensively and going back to his conditioning, just too tired to actually out jump the other player. Also, if he's gassed due to playing good defense it would explain his shooting woes as well.

Another factor, and one I don't think alot of us considered, was his foul trouble or his penchant for getting into it. Attempting to avoid foul trouble, espescially when you already have 2 fouls against you in the 2nd quarter or 4 in the early portion of the third will affect you; you don't want those stupid loose ball calls going against you.

Also, it seems that our offensive set has Andrea playing AT the three point line. As Ray Allen is demonstrating, even being a great shooter, hitting those shots consistently is quite difficult. Maybe we should change, at least for once, our offensive set and place Andrea in Bosh's spot down low and try to put Bosh on the wing where he has a decent first step for a big man and decent court vision.

wow, guess some of u been smokin the green leaf this weekend when posting huh? lol

breakout season i think not....as long as we continue to think he is a 5, he will fail and fail miserably..he is a 3/4 period...if Bosh stays there, Bargnani will never get better.

I felt this way at this time a year ago. Now, I have no clue about Bargnani. My ceiling on him has gone way down, though.

I'm with you Bball and if Andrea continues to struggle come trade deadline time next season, then its time for Colangelo to swallow his pride and package Bargnani as apart of a deal and ship him out. By that time Andrea should have enough time to prove himself and show strides moving forward and not regressing like he did this past season.

If Andrea can think of himself as a 5, and really commit to it then he can definitely have a breakout year. That commitment has to start now to get into better physical shape, and carry through mentally right into the season. The only thing that really shocked me about him was how bad his shot was. But I think that ends up being a positive - since it has to motivate him to be able to contribute when his shot is not there. I think he already wrapped his head around that in the last half of the season, but it's going to take the off-season work to make that pay off.

And he did play in the post . It wasn't all about the 3 point arc at all. He's just got to get more comfortable working inside over the summer. And if that happens, I think we'll see the shot return to form as well.

Yes he could also turn into a bust, but I think that is only if he crumbles mentally and can't put in the needed work. I expect him to be up and down overall, but having more of a positive effect in most games.

I wouldn't of been so critical of his game had he made the effort to play the post more often LX, but just when you thought he was turning the corner Andrea found himself beyond the arc lofting up 3's at an alarming pace. Not only is he a liability because his shot didn't fall this season, but he's also taken himself out of play for second chance opportunities with offensive rebounds.

Really all he'd need to do is play the 14-15ppg level he did in the second half of season 1, then add his ability to drive to the basket and more minutes. 18ppg wouldn't be impossible. But then again, that's what I said last year.

His confidence might be just shot though.

You cant have shot confidence forever when youve got the skillset he has. He just needs to work on a couple pet moves and most of all work on his footwork so when he goes to the basket hes on balance and knows what he wants to do when he gets there instead of throwing up junk.

That and he HAS to hit the midrange shots at at least a 40% clip. He musta been at a 25% clip from midrange this year, just embarrrassing for a guy whose supposed to be a shooter.

lol, I dont buy the injury thing, he wasnt moving slow or jumping less. He frecuently tried to dunk. I didnt see any sign of an injury in his game.
And even if he did have pain, many players do and still play stremelly well.

He had no lift on his jumpshot at all - it looked like a line drive. He clearly wasn't getting his legs into it. He also wasn't as explosive taking his man off of the dribble.

We're not talking about a 6'0 - 6'5 guard here. Name me one seven footer you've seen who plays well with nagging leg injuries. How did Bosh look when his knees and feet were bothering him. Pretty ordinary, eh?

I'm not making excuses for him, I'm just trying to judge him fairly with what he was up against this year.

I will give you that those injuries may slow you down a little. But not enough to justify of how crappy both bosh(for stretches) and Bargnani played. Bargnanis problems were mental, lack of confidence and lack of intelligence of how to play. Its really a mistery to me how a 7 footer doesnt get more than 4 rebounds a game.

I have and it does affect your game. You play apprehensively even if it isn't hurting you as much. You're continuously focussed on trying not to reaggravate it.

Also, couple this "small injury" with confidence issues, with knowing your playing time is being cut and it makes a big, big difference psychologically speaking as well.

And again, let's remember that Garbo was one of Bargnani's confidants. Once Garbo lost PT and well was off the team that was the beginning of his massive slide.
