Default some bargnani love ... sort of ...

SI.com ran a piece on the top 100 NBA players. Bargnani comes at #66, just ahead of ibaka, okafor, gortat and varejao. Looks like SI has some optimism about the upcoming season (whenever that might be), based on the additions of Casey and some internal improvements:

Quote:
Bargnani should be an asset, especially since he started to get the line at an above-average rate last season. And given how alleged defensive sieves have turned their careers around when gifted better playing environments, itís fun to wonder if Bargnani could emerge as a neutral defender under a guru coach and alongside an elite defensive player or two. Can that happen in Toronto? Hiring Casey is a start.

Don't blame the player, blame the playing environment.

It's not good when our best player is only ranked 66th..... shows how bad the rest of the team is. This article makes an obvious point, should be good to see Casey's impact for this team.

That's very optimistic. Ahead of John Wall, Jrue Holiday, Varejao, Ray Felton, Chris Kaman, Gortat?

Man, idk that "neutral defense" would be enough for Bargs to outplay that group next year.
I'd rather have those guys than an inefficient 20 PPG scorer who doesn't rebound and plays neutral D.

John Wall needs to prove something still.... Jrue is just not there yet either. Varejao may be the most over-rated big in the league, Kaman can't stay healthy and really only had one great season.... Gortat's star has fizzled but he could be a fair pick, and Felton gets bashed regularly so in that sense he deserves to be near Bargnani on the list.

I don't think it's very optimistic at all.... it may be questionable, but the guys you suggested just aren't the reason for that.

In math terms, every team has 2 players better than our best player.

Where's the parade?

What's even more depressing is that we only have one top 100 player ... I don't think that's the case, derozan should definitely be in the top 100. Even so, it shows how bad the perception is.

Well, that's better than Cleveland (only Varejao, at the 68 spot). Denver has 3 in the top 100, but they are all lower than Bargs on this list. Detroit only has Stuckey, down at 78th, and he's a RFA this year. Washington has only John Wall, at 72.

Charlotte doesn't have any. So there's that.

Every other team has at least one player ranked above Bargnani on this list.

Yes, I think DeRozan could conceivably be in that spot next year. Based on his current learning curve. I don't see it with Bargnani.
