So.. what if Bosh walks

I've been wondering about this, since a lot of people aren't happy about Turkoglu and Calderon and especially their contracts, what do you guys think are realistic or ideal scenarios to rebuild in the occasion of Chris Bosh saying toodeledoki.

What about Bargnani and DeRozan.. are they good enough to hang on to and build on, or not valuable enough not to use them for instance to shed Turkoglu's contract or get more picks or tank or whatever...

And also, do you guys think Turkoglu and Calderon are tradeable, and if so, for what. A different bad contract, shorter? How would you rebuild the Raptors and when do you think the team would be competitive again?

This isn't a Hedo board, so why bring him up in a Bosh thread?

JK

If Bosh is S&T this summer?

Well technically this is a post-Bosh thread. :P

I know S&T is possible but I'm kind of assuming it won't bring back a franchise player, I'm thinking a few picks rather plus maybe a decent role player or good vet.

If Bosh walks.. then we do whatever we can to get rid of Hedo and acquire Evan Turner.

I don't like any of your options. Number 1 is closest though. I think Derozan is someone you can expect will become a 15-20ppg guy and Bargnani will always be an interesting matchup and he can defend decnently. I think the key would be to replace Bosh with a more physical 4(or shift Bargnani to 4 and get a physical 5). Amir might have potential but i'd rather him stay a backup and go after someone like Jefferson, Perkins or Kaman. The most important piece though is a stud guard. Someone that controls the ball and can dominate will elevate this team. We then need a better 6th man. Not sure how to address those needs but i would definitely ship Calderon out. I would keep Hedo. He hasn't played consistant ball but he's an asset to the team i'm convinced of it.

The options are pretty basic. I'm open to suggestions as to keeping one of Josť and Hedo and try to move the other. I'm personally inclined they're too much of the same myself so I think that's something to consider regardless of the future of Chris Bosh even.

Also what's not in the poll but may present an opportunity for BC to get a good player via trades is the fact that both Evans and Banks will have an expiring contract next season so they'll become easy to move.

And I wasn't meaning that to be insulting. I should have said "I propose an additional option"

Amir steps in where Bosh left and we find a stud 2/3 to add to this young team... let them grow together...

How high is Jose's trade value, really? When you couple his bad contract with the fact that he's very injury prone it's possible he's more untradeable than Hedo. If you're trading him straight up you're easily getting 20 cents on the dollar. The most likely scenario is that he's thrown into a Bosh S&T. I do believe Bosh is gone so it's very likely Jose will be on the outs as well.

One thing we do know is that we'll be able to unload Marcus and Reggie's expirings for what is hopefully a relatively solid role player. Who knows? Maybe Denver wants to shed some salary to allow them to make an offer to Carmelo and we get Aaron Afflalo + filler in return. There will be a lot of options there even though we won't be getting any game changers back. This team needs solid role players though, which is what we'll be setting ourselves up for here.

Like I said before, I believe Bosh is gone. The main piece I'd like to get from a Bosh deal is a stud point guard - the lack of a stud point guard is what has been holding this team back for the past couple years. Since TJ left we've missed a guy who can penetrate and score, drive and kick, and defend his own position. It's no coincidence that the two best Raptor teams were quarterbacked by TJ and Alvin Williams, two guys that possess those qualities I mentioned above.

Not too many teams would take Hedo. Or Calderon. We'd have to get a pretty unmovable and unwanted contract in return. For instance - would you trade Hedo and Calderon for Gilbert Arenas? We'd only be able to acquire guys who have just as long and hefty a contract.

If Bosh walks, it'll be via a s & t. But if he walks and we get no compensation, we won't have much money to do anything. We'd essentially be in the lottery for the next 4-5 years.

thought - i'm not sure i agree about tj being able to guard his position. i remember him as a seive. he was also a ballhog and made terrible late game decisions.

but you are quite right that we need a pg of the style you described. desperately.

Option one. If Bosh goes we'll be bas so it's best to get rid of all shitty contracts bring in young players and draft picks. Try to make the playoffs but also try to get young and better

Sell the franchise to Hawaii.

Playing. #1 try to stay competitive for as long as possible. You still want to show the passionate as fans and a city that we love the sport and want new player to come out here and play for us.

If we don't we will be like the Sonic and Grizz, bandwagon hoppers who only care when the franchise is winning or about to leave not during the fight in the trenches.

If I was BC I would still fight to be competitive and have a entertain roaster even if we have the same record as new jersey.

no problem, I got what you meant. the 4 options are just a starter, to be complete you could have had any number of options..

I'm sure there are overpaid players out there, that would be a better fit than with either Calderon or Turkoglu than those two are together. Either one with Corey Maggette for example I'd prefer, just to name one. Overpaid veteran, also famous for being a poor defender but more compatible imo. Just one example, I'm sure there are more possibilities. Like agent 0 maybe even, yes.

I would never want to build around bargnani! If anything I want this team to be blown up and hope that BC somehow trades for a top 5 first rounder. For the next 5 years we keep building around draft picks and hope we become the next OKC thunder.

EVAN TURNER TO RAPS!

So basicly Calderon + Turkoglu + DeRozan for the #2 pick? I'm not sure whoever has that pick is going to be up for it.
