We're actually worse off then last year if we aren't making any moves (which I don't beleive we should anyway by the looks of next years prospects). We have 2 players coming out of surgery. Linas not projected back till next year. Going for a center and pushing to contend for the 8th is really a bad idea imo.

I don't mind another low win season as long as
1) Casey can make this team play with the heart and determination on defense that he is preaching
2) We don't sign too many "veterans" and give the bulk of our minutes to guys like Bayless & Davis, who saw the floor less than I liked last year. Which could be hand in hand the way Casey was talking about holding people accountable ala Caldy/Bargs.

I think we have some good pieces but we are far cry being a good team. We need to land here a player like CP3 in order to become a good team, and I don't see this in the near future.

BC has definitely added some solid pieces to the rebuilding process. However, the team still lacks that one, dominant player, which is essential to any championship-calibre team. Guys like DeRozan, Bargnani, Bayless, Davis, etc. are better suited as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th options but not as go-go guys.

The team could also use a veteran or two to help the young guys develop and to be a mentor when things aren't very well for the individual or the team.

Gasol or Chandler + Prince or Battier please

Doubt we can afford two of them though.

I could dig that, but I agree with you that getting two of those players will be highly difficult.

i like our core, and it seems like our entire team is becoming part of that.
Bayless - looks to be interested in becoming a pure PG
DeMar - Skys the limit
James Johnson - Can be THAT defender we've longed for especially at the 3!
Ed Davis - Plays like the natural C we've needed
Amir Johnson - is the solid big man off the bench
Bargnani - Should look at dirk's position
weems - looked promising in 09/10, but i would prefer a 3 point shooter

Sometimes you do and sometimes you don't. Cannot pre-judge what's going to happen since none of us know what players will be demanding. Obviously the high-end players will ask for more, but middle-tier players like Battier and Prince may not get lucrative contracts.

when i said overpay meant more than their own team would pay them. I imagine battier and prince would have at least 2 teams after them (surely more?) which would mean they will cost slightly or a lot more than they are worth.
