Trading Iguodala ... | Philadelphia Inquirer | 12/31/2009
Raps should be interested????

Ball Don't Lie 01-02-2010 04:08 AM

Absolutely they should be interested. He'd fill our our starting lineup beautifully, and he'd help our rebounding and help defence issues a ton

nathanapes 01-02-2010 05:01 AM

For some reason BC seems hesitant. When u look at it this way they have all this salary and a 9-23 record to show for it. smh. They're in desperation mode and need to minimize team salaries. Nonetheless, he would definitely be a nice fit, but at what cost????

CB4Real 01-02-2010 05:03 AM

a tmac type of player but i feel would fit better with this team cause he plays better d

nathanapes 01-02-2010 05:05 AM

tmac is not the same, i havent seen this dude play in 4ever.

CB4Real 01-02-2010 05:08 AM

i dint say he was the same i said he was that type of player, and in tmac's prime they both played the same style as in dunking and stuff

nathanapes 01-02-2010 05:46 AM

in tmac's prime he was putting up kobe numbers. There aren't many players like that available.

I'm not sure that we've got the right pieces to acquire AI but would love to see a lineup of:

Jack
AI
Turk
Bosh
Bargs

bjjs 01-02-2010 10:31 AM

If we got Iguodala, what would be the point in having Turk. That lineup would need two basketballs to gel. If we got Iggy, we would be better off with a defender/role player at Turk or Bargnani's position.

Iguodala and Turk have completely different roles. With Turk on the floor you could play AI at the 2 spot as a rebounder/defender/slasher. He wouldn't need to handle the ball.

IMO it would be a big and difficult lineup to play against. Not that it matters because it won't happen but I don't agree with your point that we would need two balls. The offense would still be run the same way that it is now but we would be better defensively and on the boards.

So we're getting Iguodala but using him as a 4th option, taking away his big game capability. Iggy has the ball in his hands quite a bit in Phili. Playing off the ball defering to three other guys would give him memories of being a rookie.

He's as good as Turk, most would say better, at scoring and creating.

It would be like having a offensive surplus. We would be better off getting a athletic defender at the three spot.

Iggy, Bosh, Bargnani. That's three guys capable of scoring 30+, why have another one who can't defend.

Balance is key in the NBA.

gabe91 01-02-2010 11:18 AM

I dont think derozan is that much worse than iggy at rebounding and defense, especially he's a rookie so give him more time. Plus we got antoine off the bench, who will hopefully take on the role of shutdown perimeter defender as the season progresses. Plus isn't iggy's contract masssive???

gabe91 01-02-2010 11:18 AM

***sorry i meant isn't that much worse

m5racer 01-02-2010 11:19 AM

I say Trade:

Bosh, calderon for

Iggy Williams Brand

And we turn amazing

Brand is done, and making a shitload of money. He's not the same guy he used to be before the injury.

rapsmannn 01-02-2010 11:47 AM

i guess this deal means taking in a bad contract not sure the raptors are willing to do that,

maybe if we lose bosh, then taking in Igoudola and Dalembert contract would make more sense,

but if we sign bosh, then trading jose for a expiring would make more sense, we could go out and sign Childeress with jose money

Windex 01-02-2010 12:59 PM

who said we're getting Iggy
we don't have any young cheap talent, draft picks or big expirings

Do they really want to rebuild with Caldy and Brand

Gurk 01-02-2010 01:54 PM

I agree with Windex. They won't thake big contracts and guess what guys all of our players have big contracts so the chance of us getting AI is very slim. Also, I am surprised Philly is even thinking of trading AI

for us to get Iggy, which is a dream unfortunately, sending out Jose would also necessitate sending out a guy like DD and taking back another bad contract... They don't trade Iggy without unloading SD or EB, heck maybe Kapono too...

Our best shot would be Iggy and Kapono for Jose, DD, and Wright as an expiring + max cash (3M?). Maybe even add Pops as a non-g contract for a guaranteed one... do those numbers even work? I doubt it.. but like I said, doubtful Iggy leaves Philly without a huge financial reward for them...

i don't see this deal happening here. BC might be keen but the bean counting dipshits probably feel like we've committed enough long term contracts. acquiring him, and what we'd have to give up to get him, most likely derozan, might make sense from a basketball perspective, but there goes the financial flexibility everyone in the organization gets hard-ons over.
