It sounds like they want to go after one of the bigger name Centers in free agency. Does this mean Bargnani will certainly play the 4 next season (whenever that is)? Let's say for the sake of arguement we sign one of Chandler, Dalembert, Gasol, Jordan or any starting Center....Does Bargnani then play the 4? If so does that mean Amir is on his way out? Who would be the main backup Center, Alabi? Does Davis get dealt because of lack of minutes for him?

How would you like to see this play out?

Bargnani/Davis/Amir
?/Alabi

I think the only way one of the big name FA centers plays for us next season is if there's a S&T involving one of Bargs/Amir/Davis.

If the center is of starting caliber, then yes, Bargs moves to the 4 if he's not involved in the S&T.

Which means Davis is screwed. Bargnani will play 35mpg if he isn't killed by the coach. lol

This is what pissed me off about the draft pick. You picked a centre and you want to sign another one. Sure he can't come but were signing a guy for a year, well i doubt it. We need to trade Bargs, I want Ed Davis to start, why are we going to start Bargs over Davis for a year and then trade him because that seems to be the plan right now. Give Davis his minutes he has amazing potential in my opinion and should he play he could realise it.

if Davis comes back next year with a mid range game. Expect Bargnani to be sent elsewhere. The problem with our team last year was lack of scoring options. I really dont think our defense was as bad as previous years.

But see if we get a true center in FA/trade who can at least get you 10-12pts. And then sign a SF such as Wilson Chandler or someone of that type of talent then it really doesn't matter. If we lose some scoring but are better defensively then i don't really care, plus you have to think Derozan will improve to some degree. I don't think scoring would be an issue, BC will make sure of that. lol

Why don't we operate under assumption that there won't be a season, eh? Makes all these mystical "FA centres and SFs" easier to swallow.

Translation: People, the CBA is almost over. How can you possibly talk about signing FAs when no one has any idea about the future rules that'd govern such signings?

at first I wanted raps to trade Bargs aswell.. but that wouldn't be a good move, without that guy are team is naked offensively at the 4, 5 position, Ed Davis is still young, it wouldn't hurt if he came off the bench

I think we have to at least experiment with Bargs playing the 4, that was the whole idea coming into last season, but MJ screwed up the Chandler deal, and because of that Bargs was stuck at Center all season when really he is not a center.. and he got exposed

Ill say for Davis to be an everyday starter he'll need to probably put on some muscle and get stronger/bigger. He has all the assets to become a good center considering he's able to do a 10/10 everyday that is what I want my C to do day in out.

At least having Bargnani at the 4 positions beats that JO experiment we tried and have him play the 3. If we do sign a veteran C for 1 year then this will be good for Davis and Ahmir because they can learn under him. And then whenever our new draft pick comes over Ill be expecting to see being traded. If im not mistaken he has 2 years left or something to that? Or is that Calderon I dont remember

I'm fine with Andrea play PF as long as he toughens up
I don't like his body language when the team is down by 10 pts or more

He needs to play hard for 48 minutes

One thing for sure: I don't like him as a C

My prediction is that Casey benches Bargs a lot for not giving enough effort on defense, and Ed Davis winds up playing a lot more than Bargs. Bargs and Jose become bench players is what I assume will happen.

I don't know if Amir can play SF - I don't see why not. So I figure he might become our backup SF until Kleiza gets healthy. I don't think JuJu or Weems are coming back next year.

If there's no lock out I think the Raps and JV are going to do as much as they can to get JV to play in the NBA this year.

Bayless/Jose
Derozan/Barbosa
JJ/Amir
Davis/Bargs
JV/Kurt Thomas (or someone similar)

And then of coarse the Raps are going to be plagued by injuries, and the whole season will go into the toilet.

one would think that Casey would go with Davis over Bargnani if he isn't defending, especially when his shot isn't falling and he isn't contributing to the game in any way.

my god, why cant people actually think.

jv isnt coming over this year at all.

that leaves if a fa is signed 4 bigmen worthy of minutes. only 4. and people are talking about trading one?

yeah, a competetive nba team can make due with 3 bigs.

jeez, think about it people, these are the combinations:

FA center/bargs pf
fa center/davis pf
fa center/amir pf
bargs center/davis pf
bargs center/amir pf
davis center/amir pf

more than enough minutes to go around with foul troubles, bad nights, injuries etc, you dont go into an nba season with only 3 bigs on roster. thats just fucking stupid. And alabi doesnt fucking count.

If you would think more than one year ahead you'd realize that by signing a FA center we'd have 5 bigs under contract that need minutes in 2012-13 when Val arrives.

Unless we get a guy with a one year contract. How many quality NBA players would accept a one year contract from a rebuilding team, do you suppose?

Val will definitely create a logjam if a FA center is signed. If a guy is moved in a S&T, however, Alabi (maybe even Dorsey and Ajinca) would be available to eat up any left over minutes until Val arrives.
