Smith: Raptors Should Go After McDyess

Man ... now that would be a solid pick-up. Highly unlikely, but he'd be a very good fit for us.

Yes, its fraught with tax peril and the financial situation is not to be trifled with; those bean-counters over at Maple Leaf Sports can be rather testy, I would imagine.

But Bryan has always said that if one special case came up that he liked, hed go to the board and make his case.

The benefits to adding a guy like McDyess cant be downplayed. Hes far better insurance against an injury to one of the bigs than they have now. At 34 years old, hes played in so many big games he has to be a solid influence in the locker room. Hes generally considered one of the all-time good guys in the game so hed fit in with this crowd.

Hes still got more than enough game to play a few minutes a night here, which would lessen the overall load on guys like Bosh and ONeal, another thing that cant hurt. Its obvious Kris Humphries has lost any confidence the coaching staff had in him so I dont think hes a factor in all of this.

I have no idea what McDyess is thinking one report last night said hed retire unless he could go back to Detroit, the only team he wants to play for but it has to be worth making a call.

Colangelo had some interest in McDyess two years ago, he tried to dangle Mo Pete to get him a couple of years ago, and they have some history from Phoenix. Its absolutely worth a call.

That would be friggin' SWEET. With him and Bargs (hopefully still playing well) we'd have a nice big man rotation guaranteeing rest for Bosh and JO should they need it.

He's going back to Detroit.

I'd love to have Marbury as a backup/6th man though - as a FA though, not through trade.

This is what I was thinking right when i saw he was going to be bought out. It probably wont happen, but if it did we'd be a more solid team for sure

What happened to Rasho? Is IND keeping him? Rumour was that they would have waived him and he'd have come back to us....

Awful attitude for one! That alone would say,let someone else make that stupid move! He's not a team player at all.He doesn't want to play less minutes in NY,he's isn't going to change his mind about that here.

We need to steer clear of that chucker!

We could give him over 20 a night off the bench at the 1spot/2 spot.

But unless he agreed and showed that he can be a team first player and will come off bench, then great.

Other than that he's not getting bought out, walsh wants to keep him.

The attitude on the court results from a number of things - the pressure of playing in your hometown and being the face of the franchise. He's had horrible teammates and the culture of the Knicks club since he arrived has been AWFUL.

Who's to say that he wouldn't benefit from a change of scenery and be a part of a team with a family atmosphere, and a better environment. I bet he would perform better in a system like that.

Not only could Steph play the 1 off the bench, but he could see time at the 2 as well if we need more scoring punch.

You're also the same dude that was down on the J-O trade - claiming it was "stupid". So, you'll have to excuse me if I don't agree with your talent evaluation.

From all i've read, he had attitude problems in Phoenix as well. This guy is a cancer imo.And would kill whatever chemistry we've got right now!

Its a risky move, but for the minumum then why not.

If he is a cancer, cut him.

It would be a low risk, high reward signing.. so why not take a chance? That is, if Marbury was indeed to be bought out.

And if he agreed to come here.

If he's bought out I could see him going LA, or Miami before TO.

I could see him in Miami.. and he'd get starting minutes.
