Seven footer. Played in Denver last season, spent time in Seattle before that. Been in the league five years and is only 23.

Why, you ask, should you be chattering about Johan Petro?

Well, his is a name that was being kicked around in conversational circles when the “what if they can’t do a deal with Rasho” talk began.

Actually, when I've seen him play, which isn't often, I thought he wasn't bad as a center off the bench. Could be a possibility if Rasho doesn't work out.

Petro's an athlete but I can't say I'd feel good about him being the first big man off the bench. He's a pretty significant downgrade from Rasho and you're probably going to be looking at giving him the same amount of money.

Petro is still raw.. really raw. I'd prefer Rasho's veteran saavy.

Rasho > Petro

However, I pick the Center who would sign a one year deal. The expiring contracts of Rasho or Petro, O'Bryant, Douby, Wright, George, Ukic are all trading chips that BC can use at the NBA trade deadline with teams out of contention trying to unload contracts.

Is Petro better than Patrick O'Bryant? I'm not sure.

I want Rasho and Diogu, heh.

He's not as polished yet, but he's still a solid 4 and 5 guy coming off the bench and started sometimes while in seattle.

Still I rahter him than POB but over those two I rather get Rasho.

Petro's a raw talent and with a little conditioning could be effective in a while...not the greatest option atm but still better then POB lol but a downgrade compared to Rasho for sure.

The good thing about Petro is that he could possibly get much better than he is right now or he could just stay the same...So he possibly has upside.

As of right now & possibly this season Rasho is the better player but Petro could be alot better the following year...he is only 23 & big men can take the longest to bloom.

I wouldn't say Petro is better than POB at all. POB has a better offensive game and Petro is a slightly better rebounder..marginally. It's basically a push between them. While in Seattle, Petro was getting nearly 20 minutes a game and didn't show much. For his size, he's a horrible shotblocker. In exception of last year when he was on the Raps, I don't think O'Bryant averaged more than double digit minutes a game in any of his seasons.

It's tough to say...I'm not really crazy about Petro or POB overall

As far the NBA goes you can only really tell what someone is capable of if they have had multiple 30 point games or 15 rebound nights...especially when talking about big men...

Then you can say to your self well he is capable of those kind of numbers he just needs time to put it all together.

Neither have had really big games with either stat so I am really not sold on either one.

Is there really a major difference between Petro and O'Bryant? Both are young centers who have struggled to find playing time in the NBA. I'd rather go after Rasho and give him that LLE.
