Default Smith: Raptors Called About CV & Klieza

Klieza would be a nice addition off the bench for us. Nice back-up at SF.

Solid piece off the bench. He would fill our backup SF hole nicely.

Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva flew to Detroit on Wednesday morning for a meeting with Pistons president Joe Dumars.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the pair are "moving rapidly toward deals" with the club.

Both Gordon and Villaneuva are unrestricted free agents, meaning that they are free to sign with any team they wish without Chicago and Milwaukee respectively having any say.
Detroit bound?

Kleiza would be a great pick-up. I think he would be the starting shooting guard. He's better than Delfino and Derozan right now. He would be a great compliment to starting unit, good outstide shooter, can drive to the rim and can play defense. Sign him BC.

I would definitely like Kleiza. I think he will be one of the better low-budget pick-ups this off-season.

Klieza I can understand, we need a SF starting and bench no question about it. The guy is as tough as they come and has size can rebound with the best of them.
But CV I really can't figure it out (nothing against him) but where is he going to get the minutes from Bosh, Bargnani, Evens, Hump, Jawai, POB, POPS and then there is the talk about Rasho (thats 8 bigs).

Jawai is likely not playing with us this season, Hump is likely gonna be traded, and Pops/Rasho aren't signed yet. Plus POB has a TO on his contract.

So far we have 4 Bigs guaranteed for next season

Bosh/Evans/Hump
Bargs/

Also from D. Smith this morning:

Kleiza, who league sources says has quite an interest in Toronto, would be much cheaper. He made about $1.8 million in Denver last season and could be had for a part of the mid-level exception.

I would definatly welcome Kleiza here. He will makea really good back-up at the SF position. He can spread the floor out as well, so then we can have bench scoring too, unlike last year

Kleiza is more of a 4 off the bench than 3. He stretches teams defence with his ability to take 4s away from the rim. Against 3s he isnt as effective because when they close out at the 3 pt line they can slow him down off the dribble whereas vs 4s he can just blow by them.

I dont think hed be a good fit unless we're planning not to play Evans at all, which is possible I guess. But Kleizas position is backup 4 where hes most effective from what ive seen.

Marion starting SF, Kleiza coming off the bench, not bad.
