Default Smith: Over the Moon?

Doug's turn today to criticize Jamario.

There had to be about nine seconds left on the shotclock when Moon hoisted the stupid shot and, even though itís pre-season and nothing counts for real, thatís precisely the kind of field goal attempt they had hoped Moon had forgotten about over the course of the summer.

Sure, he made a smart play a minute or two later when he drove and it eventually led to a big basket but, still.

Not sure whatís up with Moon but there are people in the organization disappointed with how things are shaking out with the second-year forward.

Hereís a guy coming off a good rookie season who was the last player in town before camp, it doesnít look like heís changed is body or his game and heís going into a contract season, with a chance to make more money on his next deal that he ever would have imagined.

Sure, itís early and maybe he gets going but, so far, heíd have bethe disappointment of the pre-season.

i totally thought he was cruising last night. i thought he'd at least have a couple of nice driving dunks thus far, because of there's ever a time to get any easy one it'd be against a team coached by d'antoni during the preseason.
i think the criticism is warranted.

Moon should be coming off the bench to start the season because he obviously didn't learn a thing after last season. In fact from what i saw last night it looks as if he thinks it's a given that he's a starter. He better wake up or he'll start the season on the bench.

What the hell are all you people talking about? The guy had a double double last night and was our best player overall last night. Smith is just trying to find a new wipping boy and because Jamario wasnt in to camp early because his wife was having a kid he chose him. The only chance we have of doing anything this year is if Jamario is in the starting lineup and we go to the defensive route, because without Moon in the starting lineup, Anthony(I jump at any pumpfake) Parker will be exposed that much more, and Kapono and Parker combined will likely have the other starting sg/sf's avging 45+ ppg combined vs them.

Moon takes one bad shot and Smith rips him. How about all the traffic rebounds he had last night? The solid defensive rotations? The 4-6 deflections he had? 50% shooting? At least 3 passes that led JO right to the basket?

What a douche.

Sorry, regardless, but if it's a bad shot, no matter what, it should be criticized. This stfu garbage is just that, garbage. Hell, at any level, he would've been sat down.

As for the other stuff, I think Jamario played better, far better than his first game. And there's likely a good reason for him missing the first few weeks of the training camp.

He still isn't going to the basket. And when his shots dry up next week, people will be thowing things at their TV like last season. He won't be very successful unless he goes to the rim.Because if he's hoysting up threes in November/December with a few minutes left and the game on the line,he'll cost them games. He needs to go to the rim and get to the line.

Sorry but there's not going to be a Parker or Calderon to depend on in the pre-season game when it comes down to crunch time. If he took initiative and shot that, good for him. It went in, really what else do you want?
No shots from Hump or Moon=2/5 immobolized players on with 2 mins in the game down by 1. Did you really want Solomon taking another shot? (Wouldn't have minded but he had one)
They're also the most hard working grabbing boards and making defensive plays. Sit him down then see how it goes.
You can't really force him to drive..Some players just don't roll like that.
You can try, let them develop..

You're not really getting it though.

If you're just forcing up a shot, regardless of the fact that you were open, it wasn't the right shot to take. In essence, it's the definition of selfish. It's not initiative. Initiative would've been to drive to the lane and try to get a foul out of it, or dish to an open teammate.

And guess what, any player can be forced to do anything. You know how? You cut playing time. Problem is a lot of players think they know better than the coach. Cut their p.t. until they do what they're supposed to do and watch, all of a sudden they'll do it.

What's nice is this is a pre-season game. But still, he's athletic enough that he can just drive to the hoop all the time. Taking shots out of the offense though, that's inexcusable.

Thank you for that great insight. I'd personally take him over a few starting SF's out there. But, wow, simply coming out and saying he's not starting material.....wow. Thanks for clearing that up.

Jamario Moon may take the spot as the new whipping boy but if he plays like he did last night, than he is going to have my support.

Weee Belsius speaks.
Besides, Kapono was on too
Made the 3.
I know he shouldn't have taken it..(I think?)
If he was shooting 50% on the night and grabbing 9 boards then hey go for it.
Do or die? Do. I can't believe you guys are hating Moon for draining a shot even though he shouldn't have taken it.

If Moon keeps on taking those shots during the regular season, I know I'll see him sitting on the bench

Moon's body language says that he's cruising. he played okay last night but his shot selection was suspect. i cringe everytime he jacks up a three, when kapono's in the corner and he could've swung the ball. he should be going to the rim, and if donut dougie is alluding to some displeasure in the higher ups then maybe they're seeing something in practice that we aren't.
