Default Smith: Moon Likely To Start; Roko To Back-up Jose

Doug doesn't know this forsure, but based on what he saw and was told in practice it would appear as though Jamario will get the call to start at the SF spot to open the season. With Will struggling with the sore hamstring and Roko improving each practice, Sam did say that he'll be getting Solomon's minutes too.

Well, it may mean nothing or it may mean everything but Jamario was wearing the black jerseys that starters wear when we got into watch the end of practice on Friday and it seems Samís starting to really like the way Ukic handles himself.

Sayeth the coach:

"Right now, Roko is getting a little bit better every day. One thing I really like about him is heís like a sponge, man, He asks a lot of questions, heís trying to learn. And you only really have to tell him something one time before he gets it.

"Right now, Will hasnít been practicing (sore hamstring) so right now Roko will get those minutes. You canít give those minutes to a guy who hasnít been practicing.Ē

Makes sense. Roko is more likely to play same style offense as Jose, so he wouldn't mess up much when put out there with starters.

I really hope Roko will take full advantage of this opportunity and he will lock down backup PG job. Solomon reminds me of Mike James way too much ... !

Solomon is gonna be played more at the 2 guard for his defense and scoring ability.

Roko is our backup of the future, unless he screws up in a major way. So yeah, play him 12-15 minutes per night to provide Caldy with some much needed rest.

Wow, then I suppose Roko had better go out and get himself a left hand and maybe a jumpshot of some type.

roko has talent - and can get to the basket. There are plenty of pg (even starters) who don't shoot all that well. My main concern is that he's clearly having a problem with turnovers - and we can't afford too many of those, since our transition defense will be horrible with our second unit (Bargnani, kapono etc).
