Default Smith: Jawai Off To The D-League Soon?

Doug is under the impression that Nathan's comeback will likely start down in the D-League hopefully soon.

And itís not like the Raptors, with the schedule the way it is in the next couple of weeks, are going to have a lot of practice time, which is where the rookieís getting his work in up here.

If that's the case, wouldn't it put the team is below the minimum required of players on a roster?

Let him play? He would get DESTROYED. He's not in game shape.

i think the whole idea is to have him get into game shape by playing in games. the only potential question with this is some silly rule that limits the number send-downs a player can have per season.

lance allred plays for the stampede. he got a call up from cleveland. found this on him--
article on top d-league talent
Quote:
Lance Allred, Idaho - When I looked at D-League numbers about this time last year, Allred got my MVP vote. A couple of months later, Allred was called up by the Cavaliers and got more media attention than your average 13th man because he is legally deaf and he spent his early childhood living on a polygamist compound. Allred's autobiography is due out later this year. As for the basketball, Allred has yet to regain the touch in the paint he showed last year, which is why his numbers are down.
he got a dnp last game. don't know what his situation is. could be hurt. could be getting called up... no idea. at least jawai would have a better level of competition in practice and could keep him sharper and working harder, fighting for minutes. it would suck if he wasn't able to get minutes, though.

jamerio davidson's there, too. so there's competition at the 4 as well.

Good. Drop him to the D-League so he can gain some confidence and get into shape!

As for people inferring he's a bust - he's a late second round pick. You have to swing for the fences on those. Jawai has promise; he's big and quick, but just terribly out of shape from the looks of things due to taking so long to diagnose his heart condition.

I'm pretty sure that if he went to Idaho, to play for the Stampede, he would still be considered on the Roster, he'd just remain as "inactive", like on the old "injury reserve" system. Sort of like when Pape Sow went down to Colorado, but he was still part of the Raptors, and still counts against the cap and all of that good stuff. Jawai would still be considered on the team, and it's not like you have to bring someone else in, to meet the minimum roster number.
