Smith: "I call Golden State first and try to pry Harrington away."

I'd have to agree with Doug too in considering Harrington long before calling Charlotte regarding Wallace. Purely for the fact that Al's contract is alot more feasible to manage than Gerald's is. :(

What should Bryan be doing?

Making the calls to try and get in on the deals.

Not sure what he’d have to offer – and I cannot envision any way he gives on Andrea right now so please put those thoughts aside – but he did have interest in Wallace in the summer and Harrington, in my mind, is a pretty good fit.

Harrington’s got the more manageable contract (expires after next season when you want free agent money; Wallace’s goes out at least three seasons after this one) and I know the coaches here think he’s more of a three than Wallace is (they contend Wallace plays best as a four).

I don’t know if there’s a Raptor package that would make sense, or would come close to what other teams might be offering, but Bryan wouldn’t be doing his job if he wasn’t making the calls. And he’s always doing his job.

Personally, with all things considered (money, contracts, variety of skills), I call Golden State first and try to pry Harrington away.

i actually agree.
i'm not a harrington fan, but i have to give the kid credit and admit that he's got game.
he'd be a HUGE addition to this team.
unless we dip into our draft picks, theres no one available on our team that GState would want.

Superjudge 11-07-2008 11:32 AM

I love Harrington.

He'd make me very happy.

Acie 11-07-2008 11:34 AM

Aside from anyone named Bosh, Calderon or Bargnani what in the wide world of sports would we have to offer?

AP and Kapono works contractually, but then who the hell's going to play the 2?

MikeToronto 11-07-2008 11:49 AM

I'd only go for Harrington if ONE of AP/Kapono was included, but not both.

MangoKidHoops 11-07-2008 11:54 AM

Kapono+Joey + future 1st would work financially. However, Kapono doesn't work in the G-State way of things - he's not athletic at all.. so it might have to be AP + Joey + 1st. Ugh. I really don't want to lose AP.

But shit... (to continue with the post), Harrington would be lovely here. As a 3, he's massive (6'9", 250), and he could switch to the PF on occasion. He's a BC kind of guy - althetic guy who plays multiple positions and can shoot.

Superjudge 11-07-2008 11:58 AM

damn straight he can shoot.

he makes big shots

MikeToronto 11-07-2008 12:26 PM

According to the TradeChecker, Kapono+Humphries for Harrington works under the CBA.

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade...radeid=4804698

The Warriors get a three-point shooter who will get a lot of open looks off of their penetrators and a young athletic PF who will bang inside and grab boards, something they also need as they don't have a lot of big men.

Superjudge 11-07-2008 12:27 PM

Give them a call Mike, tell um you're BC!!!

See what they say

LOL, they will probably tell me to fuck off, but that would've been an awesome trade, eh?

PG - Ocho (Roko, Will)
SG - Parker (Graham)
SF - Harrington (Moon)
PF - Bosh (Harrington, Bargs)
C - JO (Bargs, Jawai)

Thin at SG now, but you can't have it all, can ya?

Ball Don't Lie 11-07-2008 12:41 PM

Harrington is really a PF but I guess it could work with him at SF since hes done it before with Jermaine at Indy.

I'd much rather Wallace though.

Snooch 11-07-2008 01:03 PM

I say a menage a trois involving the Raps, Charlotte and GS.

Raptors out:
Kapono, Moon, Graham and Hump

In:
Anthony Randolph, Al Harrington and Marco Bellinelli
Backup 2 guard not getting minutes-pairs with Andrea. Al for starting SF and a young pup to replace Hump

GS Out:
Randolf, Belli, Harrington, HEndrix.

GS In:
Gerald Wallace and Hump.
Athletic Big man who can get up and down and Wallace, a little defense to go with that guard driven up and down team(Wallace would excell in GS without a doubt)

Charlotee Out:
Gerald Wallace

Charlotte in:
Joey-expiring, Kapono-best shooter in the game, Moon, a cheap replacement for Wallace and Hendrix who could pair with Okafor down low.

Acie 11-07-2008 01:15 PM

Hey wait a second.

I want anybody with the surname Hendrix coming to the Raps. :guitar:

jeffb 11-07-2008 01:20 PM

Kapono (5.78Mil)
Hump (3.2 Mil)

for

Al Harrington (9.2 Mil)

GS swaps PF's and gets a 3 point shooter in return

Our lineup:

Jose /Ukic/Soloman
Parker /Graham/Adams
Harrington /Moon/Graham
Bosh /Bargnani
JO /Bargnani/Jawai?

The only issue with this deal would be the Raps would only have a 12 player roster and that includes Jawai.

Snooch 11-07-2008 01:22 PM

Seen this posted esewhere as well.

Quote:

TOR gets Tayshaun Prince & Raja Bell (among the best defensive wings in the game)

DET gets Gerrald Wallace (complete the Roster shake up)

PHX gets Jason Kapono (Kapono reunited with Shaq, imagine Nash feeding Kapono)

CHA gets Andrea Bargnani & Joey Graham (Bargs and Oak are made for each other)

spuriousjones 11-07-2008 01:56 PM

i'd love a
kapono/humphries/gaham/(solomon on dec.15)/pick(s)
for
harrington/randolph/belinelli

but i don't think they'll move randolph even though he's stuck behind either key big contracts like maggette+jax and the wing + beans in the post, and to a lesser degree turiaf or exploding young guys that deserve minutes like wright

i remember smitch making a comment about randoph in the behind the draft show "they'z gonna be playaz"

anyway, i think all the guys suggested going out would be much better players with nellie.

harrington's not a panacea player for us. you can't just give him the ball when things aren't working and he'll make it happen--wasn't that why atlanta moved him? (jackson could be like that) but he's still a pretty good player, even on his decline. his problem for us is that even though he's built like a big, his game has become much more perimeter oriented and isn't a great rebounder.

Gurk 11-07-2008 03:56 PM

Snoochie I would do that trade in a second. I don't care if we lose Bargs in order to get Prince and Bell. We would have a awesome team

Detroit gets hosed on that deal. Tayshaun is a better player than Wallace and Toronto gets WAY too much. I mean, I would be complaining if that trade went through in real life, but I can't see it happening.

Saw this on ESPN just a few minutes ago:

J.A. Adande [ESPN]: (3:19 PM ET ) Al Harrington's out there and Toronto is among the teams the Warriors have talked to, but not very seriously. At least not yet. Would be worth a look, though, and I think there's some interest.

Gurk 11-07-2008 04:54 PM

AL would be nice but what would GS want from the Raps and what are players are the Raps willing to trade away
