@JLew1050: On with @MikeRichardsTSN this morning, Dwane Casey said Valanciunas and Gay have each put on 10-15 pounds of what he called "good weight"

This is a fine move that offers a starting point without needing to start from scratch. Bring in another coach of any variety and you can guarantee most of us as fans will end up hating that guy sooner rather than later. Getting a new coach is the easiest and largely fakest move done to make fans happy. That's why there are so many firings regardless of records. I feel pretty happy that Masai did not go that route, nor do I think he ever would.

You do realize that the Spurs did not invent pound the rock and that its use is widespread right?

yeah what the fuck happened to that?
Convenient excuses happened. As in injuries and trades messed up his rotations.

But I'm glad Casey is still HC, doesn't waste a season to get new coach in and reshape roster for him.
Casey can bring this team a playoff appearance, can Ujiri get them a playoff round victory still to be determined. Denver didn't do too well in playoffs overall

Just throwing a little known factoid out there but 'Pounding the Rock' is an NFL term that was started by Marinelli of the bucs back in 1996. For 6 years they used it as motivation for their linesmen who literally became a terror in the league - thanks to Warren Sapp, I loved watching his antics and his dominate play. Gruden then used it as his motivational speech during the 2003 Superbowl where that phrase 'Pounding the Rock' become popularized.

I liked that the Spurs adopted and ran with it, although, because of that it almost feels weird for me to see the Raps use it. If it motivates the players then why not I guess, good coaches should look to great coaches to become better.

However, for some reason I think it would be much more beneficial if the Raps could come up with something they can call their own - instead of borrowing it from another NBA team who borrowed it from the NFL.

Question:

Casey started out 4-19 last season. Being allowed to revert back to a defensive team, at what point do they pull the plug and MU brings in his guy?

Will only 5 to 7 wins in the first 20 games do it?

Wait 'til the all-star break and see what happens?

Or wait 'til the end of the year?

Unless it's another complete disaster of a start my guess is he'll be here the full season and MU will make a decision next May.

Should just wait until the end of the season to make a change. It would harm development if we have an interim head coach that ends being axed anyways.

Depends on Casey. If he pulls the same rotations crap he did last year, he might be hurting development more than a coaching switch would.
