Exclamation Smith: Big Trade Unlikely, Minor Tweak Expected Soon

Hmmm ... I wonder what the minor tweak can be. Another big man?

He also said, if he were to bet right now, that Triano will likely not be back as head coach next year. If we win a round in the playoffs, that changes.

I wasn't expecting a major trade because we have no one to trade. So this makes sense

I have been a Bargnani backer for the most part but this trade now sounds amazing if it could be pulled off (too bad its impossible)

I don't see anything happening until after December 15th. That's when players that signed in the offseason become available.

we just don't have enough players to trade, i'm not even talking about quality and salaries, i'm just talking plain quantity, we have nobody to trade because if we were to improve we would have to package more players to get less but better, but our team is too thin in quantity already, we'd have like 10 players left or something ridiculous

Smith is a moron. He didn't exactly "call it" on the Smitch firing did he. In fact he stated there was no way it wasgoing to happen , at least not for a long while. Now I'm suppossed to believe him on this. he's just talking out his ass

I'm pretty sure Smith posted on his blog the night before Sam was fired that there was no way Sam was gone. He's too clouded by his connections with the team to really report things objectively.

I wouldn't take Maggette even if we just gave up expirings for him

Overrated me-first chucking cancer/terrible long contract = no thank you.

Atleast his contract expires in the next 3 years and he has way more potential than Maggette

That's IF someone wants to trade their Dog Shit for Bargs. I'll do it straight up.

Toronto gets
Bag of Shit + fillers

Random Team
Get Bustanani

Its a win-win situation.

Wow already gave up on Bargs. He is playing well this season except these past few games where he isn`t playing good at the 3 position. Now that he is at the position he was playing before I think he will excel and become a very good player

I guess they will replace mop girl
What minor tweak could turn around Raptors? If MLSE doesn't want to spend extra $ and BC won't sacrifice a future 1st pick, I really don't see how BC can came up with a good swing, a backup big and a backup PG. OTPP just bailed out from taking over BCE ($33 billions), they might have some extra money to throw in NBA business

Doug reporting that almost certainly means there's going to be a big trade.

Seriously though, he's spitting common sense right now, there's no insight here. You think BC calls him up and says, "Hey, Doug, no big trade, just a tweak - watch for it".

Fact is we CAN'T make a big trade because we're not willing to part with Bargnani, now his value might not be that much but there are always teams looking to take a gamble on a talent like that (like we did). If the bait isn't good, the fish won't be big.

We're basically looking to trade Parker's expiring contract and maybe Graham. I don't see the Raps giving up on Humphries because frankly he's a pretty good piece and we're already paper-thin up-front in terms of rebounding, especially if JO goes down. I thought we'd trade Kapono but it makes no basketball sense, we got two post-up options on the team and trading away the NBA's best shooter to make them pay for doubling sounds ridiculous. It would be going totally against the grain of how this team finds success - incite double, swing ball, make three. Graham's coming on of late and Triano obviously likes him. So maybe we trade Moon? I don't know, its small fries.

The pieces up for trading aren't big to begin with so neither will be the returns. Simple, don't need Doug telling us that. He should focus on using his courtside seats to report more game-action, who-said-what-to-who that we miss on TV, not obvious shit that I can come up.

Doug Smith is just a person like anyone here... he knows as much as us, just a few minutes earlier. Remember his thoughts on Sam's firing? Yea... lol

Don't take his word for it, for all we know Shawn Marion is coming.

It could be as simple as signing an unemployed free agent or minor leaguer to a contract for the rest of the season.

There are a handful of players who might warrant consideration as Colangelo looks around for some frontcourt help. There are ex-NBAers like Juwan Howard, Jake Voskuhl and even Michael Ruffin who might fit what Colangelo needs, while a player like Courtney Sims, a 6-foot-11 banger who has been in free agent camps with Toronto before, could be picked up out of the D League. Jermareo Davidson, a D Leaguer with NBA experience would also be on a list, as would Damone Brown, another minor leaguer with NBA experience.

Colangelo has said he thinks the need for a fourth big man is, at the moment, acute. Humphries has missed four games already and is not expected to play tonight in New Jersey. Jawai's heart issues have kept him off the court all season, seriously cutting into Toronto's frontcourt depth.
