For the sake of accuracy, which you should consider trying, the "fools gold diggers" was the name they gave to the 10-11-12 grouping of teams in their power rankings which was Toronto, Wash, Dallas. Jalen does say that he thinks Lowry will get moved, but you omitted that Simmons thinks Toronto will be the 3rd seed in the East. Jalen thinks it will be Washington or Detroit, which tells you all you need to know about Jalen's point of view. Fortunately Jeffb posted the segment, so anyone can view it and see what's really said, as opposed to your cherry-picking.

They are both in agreeance though, that Masai tried to tank by trading Gay, and its clear that by the name of the group "fools gold diggers" that they think our success won't last. Even that part with the guys in the back room and their reaction when Bill said we'd be 3rd is very revealing to our perception outside of Toronto.

So now your relying on some unknown and unseen people's reaction in a back room for your point of view. Wow, you've got some kind of powers.

And as Bill said- "they're playing really good basketball"

And I prefer Masai's stated reasons for the trade, after all he did it, and the on-court results have absolutely supported what Masai said and he said it just days after the trade, not after the better ball movement and chemistry became ingrained. I know it's a little tough for you to sit back and just let Masai do his job, but somehow, I don't think he's about to call you for advice about what to do, so grab another beer and watch some b-ball. Rant and rave all you want at the TV screen, it will lower your blood pressure.

Yes, how foolish I am for speculating on a forum. Why would I ever do so if Masai isn't going to use my council? In fact, why do any of us post in here ever? Might as well shut the whole site down and just grab a beer and watch TV. After all, Masai isn't going to use anything we post.

And thanks for proving my point, that when Bill and Jalen say something you agree with they're right, but when they're not, their opinion doesn't matter.

Ok, I'll agree about your foolishness, but speculating is wondering or guessing at something and not ranting. People post here because the Raptors are the team they are following as fans, and news and statistics about the team often get's posted here, and it's a place to comment about those things, not a place to orate.

As to Bill and Jalen, I asked for the link to be posted so other members could judge for themselves- I have no idea how they're going to feel about it, only to have it out there for them to decide. When Bill and Jalen say something that I agree with, it doesn't mean they're right, it means I agree with them. When they say something I don't agree with, it doesn't mean they're wrong, it means I don't agree with them.

Wondering or guessing, you mean like wondering if this team can keep up their success, wondering of potential trade scenarios, wondering if our free agents will stay here, or go elsewhere if presented with equal contracts?

No, wondering how you're going to promote your ready made solution to all of the above.

what regression are you talking about? And we are not talking about any specific position, the discussion was started by this comment by koolaid:

My point is that its not very likely you get a rotation player with late picks. And while trades can make a difference possibly, the vast majority of the improvement will be from internal growth.
which was deemed ridiculous (on the basis that history is proving it wrong nevertheless).

Well guess what, history is proving exactly the opposite - that a pick outside the lottery is not likely to end up solid or better.

If you want to look at the future, I think what you are saying here is that looking back in history at the selection at any particular draft position is not a remotely reliable indicator for future drafts at that position. If this is so, I couldn't agree more. And you don't need any math to prove it, common sense alone should be enough to realize that drafting 16th is always better than 17th, regardless whether in the past 17th yielded better players than 16th.

This year's NBA draft prospects haven't quite lived up to the lofty expectations that scouts (or we) had in July.

A number of top prospects have been good. Some very good. This draft is looking much, much better than last year's draft. But we've yet to see a player who appears to be able to turn around a franchise the way LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Derrick Rose did.

I don't know how you can watch these guys play and not see the talent. Parker is a near definite top 10 player, Wiggins has the potential to be a superstar with his ridiculous physical gifts and straight up talent, Embiid might have the highest ceiling in the draft and guys like Randle, Exum, Smart all project to be all stars. Even guys like Aaron Gordon, Zach Lavine (my sleeper), Gary Harris, and James Young all look to be good starters in the NBA.

There will be a lot of talent injected into the league this summer.
