Hoping he's just talking out of his ass, but I wouldn't be surprised. Would be really disappointed and angry if it happens though.

Raptors have made the top 8 in the NBA this year. Their has been consistent improvement. One step at a time.

This day and age people expect so much so quick; everything is in a microscope and everybody is an expert.

I disagree with alot of what Casey does - including the changes to the starting lineup so far in this post-season. Those changes haven't led to anything - they seem like decisions made in haste.

But regardless of what I think - the man is getting the job done.

It would be a big risk not to extend him.

I wouldn't extend him, especially if someone who knows how to run team offence is actually available.

But as poor as the offense looks - the team continues to improve - they're on the verge of an ECF showing.

The path of the team suggests that Casey's strengths are more than making up for any weaknesses.

Do you a fire a coach that has a team on a positive trajectory...? There are some very good coaches out their on the market who I would take over Casey if the team was starting fresh - but that isn't the case here.

Fire Casey. Hire Jeff Van Gundy.

Casey has done a beautiful job - but the disappearing confidence of a successful team is a coaching issue. Not a system issue, not an IQ issue. Casey seems confused about who his team is in these playoffs. The changes to the starting PF spot early in the playoffs...for the second year in a row. The recent insertion of JJ in the lineup at the start of a series. These changes seem like reaching for straws before he even needs to reach for straws, while at the same time, not even taking advantage of the changes he made.

Inserting PPat into the starting lineup, but PPat is rarely ready to shoot. He should be shooting 10/12 times a game. JJ in the rotation against Cleveland, and he is as lost as JJ usually is.

Not a huge fan of Jeff.

Look, Casey has his players' ear and respect. That's obvious and that's worth a lot. I am just not sure he is telling them the right stuff, that's all. I hate the fact that this team was second worst in the league in assists this season. I hate the fact they are so ISO-heavy and rely on their back-court so much for scoring. I hate that they can only cover threes or the paint, but not both, so any team with versatile weapons is pretty much an impassable barrier. I really dislike the fact that we don't have any good out of timeouts play, it seems.

I change my mind again after the Raps won two at home. That was impressive. Casey stays.

They had a lot of great out of timeout plays this year that led to baskets. A lot. I don't know the percentages and what it was like compared with other coaches around the league, but I remember many effective plays out of timeouts executed to perfection and resulting in points. In the playoffs as well.

The team is heavy on getting Demar and Lowry the ball off of screens. The iso's usually occur in the flow of the game after those screens occur in the first half of the shot clock.

But the offense is repetitive and stagnant and I think it needs to be micromanaged at times. Casey's approach is pretty hands off which is similar to a lot of great coaches in NBA history, but when the players are slumping and the flow is dead, I think Casey and the team needs to be better prepared to execute set plays.

My biggest critique is his use of the PF spot. Two years now he just hasn't been getting the most that he could out of that position. He's had quick triggers for two pretty good players in Amir Johnson and Scola. Along with Patterson, all three of those guys are pretty average as far as playoff power forwards, but none of them had the confidence at the end of the year to make a significant impact. Casey uses that position to hand-off the basketball on offense and not shoot, but then he has a quick trigger for them and seems to blame the team's troubles on them by making changes at that position - but the changes make no difference in the teams' performance because that position in his system has no responsibility on offense except to hide and stay out of the way. He hasn't done a very good job at empowering his somewhat talented PFs alongside Demar/Lowry.

An upgrade at that spot will hide that issue for Casey. I don't see the team improving with another year of Patterson and somebody slightly better or slightly worse at that spot.

Apparently not talking out of his ass - the three year extension has come to fruition.
