Default Shumpert for DeRozan?

The Knicks really lucked out with Shumpert, the kid can play....solid SOLID defensive player with a knack for scoring. His defensive efforts really showed tonight against the Cavs

Shumpert first caught my attention when he played Derozan in the summer impact league:

would you trade Derozan for Shumpert?

I WOULD!!!

Been saying this since the Draft. Shumpert can play.

Wouldn't give him up for DeRozan though.

Shump isn't as good as advertised..... but he's a nice young player to have for cheap.

we r dying for defense on this team....and Emar Erozan has been showing no D at all, heck not even O at times!

James Johnson is more shot blocking type of TEAM defense, Shumpert is more on-the-ball man to man defense capable of shutting down an opposing team's PG or SG.

I'd give up Bayless for him.

I think good man to man D is somewhat overrated. You can be the best man defender in the NBA but if your apart of the worst team at help defense you'll look bad.

no one wants Bayless.....

man to man D can translate to team D, you just need someone to hustle and bring energy to the team to ignite team defense. anyone can play D, it's just a matter of how bad you want it. If Derozan plays solid D i bet there would be more of an effort on the team to match his energy along with James and Amir Johnson's hustle. It's infectious.....the Knicks were down 17 pts at one point of the game tonight against the Cavs. It was the bench led by Shumpert/Jeffries on D and Baron/Novak on O who rallied all the way back to win the game

i wouldnt touch Shumpert.
sure he's got good Defense, but the guy is a chucker. His IQ and shot selection are horrendous.
watch the next NY game that is televised and watch his decision making... he jacks up ridiculous shots and kills any flow the offense has.

I love that this is catching on but I really wish he'd improve his defensive intensity.... heck, I wish he'd improve his offensive intensity.

derozan is much better, shumpert is a good defender, but right now he's probably not a rotation player on a good team, unless they lack depth badly

Defensive specialist. He's among the league leaders in STLs and is pretty darn good at holding down his man 1-on-1.
