Raptors Should we still trade Jose?

I know its been only been 20 games, but February is coming up soon in like 2 months. Should we still be looking to trade Jose? If he still plays how he's been playing now, I don't think we should. He has good chemistry with the team and is getting used to pushing the ball up the court. Plus if he goes, who's going to throw alley oops to Amir, Davis, Weems, and Derozan?

Lol, I would love to see an alley oop to Bargnani hahah, that would be epic!
Or Bargs posterizing someone :P

Here's the problem...

Your making him sound like BC hasen't been trying to trade him all along... and your also making it sound like hes a expiring contract or something that another struggling team would want him at the trade deadline to shed salary... but he aint expiring... No one wants him or the contract

Also I highly doubt anyone is looking for Jose to put them over the top at the deadline to win a championship this season...

His contract is just to big for anything to be done... we got him till atleast season end IMO.

I wouldnt trade him if someone somewhere doesnt go crazy and offer something really valuable for him. Right now he has great chemistry with the young guys and he can really teach them and get them more confident. Amir really needs a real PG like Jose to help him get his offensive game going.

In future, if we get a true star PG (I dont think Bayless will do it), Jose can be a second unit guy. He has always been great of the bench. Atleast currently his contract really doesnt bother me at all. We got a lot of financial flexibility with Peja's expiring, Reggies expiring, the TPE and whatnot. Our problem is that to get somebody meaningfull (outside drafting one) we would need to have a team that would be attractive for big name FA's. The best way to do that is play very well this season and make the young guns look good. And Jose can help with that.

Trade Jose? Unless we include jose in a package with someone else to get a better point guard, otherwise our only point guard will be bayless:facepalm:

If he continues to play like this I don't see why we would trade him, he is a good teammate and a mentor to the young guys.

Good chance he is here for a while now as some of his contract winds down. Especially since there is a PG that provides a different look and can keep his minutes lower so that he doesn't pull a hamstring every 2nd month.

Only if a good PG is coming back, otherwise it defeats the purpose.

If someone offers 1) draft picks, 2) a young centre, 3) a young PG i'd take it. With Jose's current level of play and when mid season injuries hurt PG depth - a good team will trade for him.

Jose is overpaid, injury prone, and poor defensively. His recent play his lifted his value, but he doesn't deserve to be the highest paid player on the team. We can use Jose money to bring in a centre or a more affordable (and similarly talented) backup PG.

We should try, I mean I like him and all but we are trying to shed money and it would be good to see his salary off the books, even if he has been playing good.

DAMN NOO JOSE DON"T GOO!!!!

Considering he is getting paid $9,000,000, $9,780,993 & $10,561,985 then absolutely. Just have to make sure we don't get stuck with a big contract in return.

We need a defensive center.

I have no problem having Bayless/Barbosa at the point if Jose can get us a decent Center.

Barbosa can NOT run an offence. He doesn't have the awareness to be a PG.

Bayless needs a few more years to learn. He needs to control his game i.e. know when to attack and when to get other guys going.

Calderon, if healthy, I don't have a problem with. He'll give you value, won't hurt you and he's a steadying force out there. I know some people are saying this is his peak, well, then, that's a good thing. He's playing good defense, good offence, not hurting you anywhere really and he's assuming a nice leadership role. It's all dependent on his health really and if anyone knows IF he's going to get injured again, well, when did you become psychic?

PG is stable now. Don't mess with it.

Bayless and Bargs are playing well together. Amir and Jose are playing well together.
Bayless threw couple of alley oops, but Bargs just can't jump and finish them like Lamarcus Aldrige!

The only possible way Jose gets moved is if BC is going to eat at least half his salary to the team aquiring him.......some one else said it right......no young team is going to add his contract and a team making a playoff run is not going to want him either,
