Default Should the Raptors get Olajuwon to work with Valanciunas?

I know this seems like a simple yes or no question but do Raps fans believe this will be worth it for Jonas at this point in his career or is he too young? How much would it cost or take to convince " The Dream " to work with JV or does Valancuinas need to develop his own style and comfort? I'm raising the discussion because I think it'll be beneficial to his game and the Raptors. Too many times I hear and see players work with Olajuwon like 7-8 years into their career but I think why not sooner for Jonas since he has the potential? I'd let JV ride out the season and re-evaluate in the Summer. After Summer League (if he's there) I'd have him workout with Hakeem for a month or so(if possible).

Thoughts?

I think Sabonis would be a better mentor, since he can communicate with Jonas in his native tongue.

At the end of preseason Jamaal will be asked to hang up his uni and will be hired as the big man coach...it's a perfect fit

But i think JM would be a really good fit here as coach...and he could turn out to be a very good one as well
He's already mentoring JV on the sidelines

I'm not sure how spending a relatively small amount of time with Hakeem has an enormous impact for a young player. If he could get constant feedback from him that would be great. Otherwise you probably see guys with experience going to him in order to hone what they have already figured out for themselves, wherein a few sessions can be helpful.

I could see that, but as far as working with somebody for a few weeks or a month in the summer, Hakeem or even Sabonis can really speed up the development process for JV. Magloire would then be there for that all season around support!

Would not be against that obviously...but if i were the Raps, i would insist that we have our own coach there while training so that we could continue with the same drills/philosophies for the remainder of the year

I'd want the best of both worlds

my thoughts, Toronto has a big man coach. And Toronto has a head coach, and a few other coaches. As complicated as basketball might be, it isn't THAT complicated. If JV can't develop under the people he has now, he isn't any good. Toronto going out and getting a former star big to "mentor" JV would be a waste of time and money. The ony value i see there is if it somehow makes the kids day and he takes some special magic dust from the experience of meeting a hero.

But then...he is already banging his ultimate hero's Daughter no?

Sabonis has a job, he doesn't train guys.
Valanciunas will spend his summers playing for the national team, don't even think of summer league and similar bs

Yeah I think Hakeem could greatly benefit from learning some of Val's moves, like the "JV shake":cookie:

JV has basketball mentality he will learn from his minutes on the court. He will learn while he is playing or even watching.

Pay Hakeem? He should do it for free. They already paid him for nothing once.

you guys are all hilarious, especially Ammo's because it's the damn truth...

Maybe now or during the season is too soon, but depending on how Valacuinas develops through his first year,it may be a good option to have him learn the Center position better(from an offensive stand point) in the following off season after any Summer League's or National team training.

Valanciunas performs the pick and roll very well. What made Olajuwon special was his footwork. Brook Lopez and Al Jefferson are the best post up players in the NBA. If Jonas has the footwork, it would be worthwhile to bring a big man mentor to develop those skills. Jamal Magloire is not that guy.

they should scout his game this season and figure out what he needs to work on first and select someone to work with him on that during the offseason
then the next offseason he can work on something else which might require a different person
