Default Should the dice be rolled?

Just wondering what everyone is thinking.

Should BC go for the gold by trade deadline and move some pieces to try and net a player to put us over the top? Would it work?

Or should the team stay the course and keep things as is in case Bosh does decide to move on to another team?

It does seem as though the Raps are getting alot of attention right now in TO and the extra revenue from ticket sales can only help convice MLSE to go to the tax to try to become a contender as opposed to a pretender.

I think there are some tradeable assets on this team as it is currently constructed with the likes of Jose/Evans/Rasho/Wright/even Banks.
I am sure there is a deal that could be made bringing in a high priced player for a pairing of those guys

Stay the course. It's not broke, so don't fix it. Unless you get an offer you can't refuse aka no brainer or whatever I wouldn't be acting as a buyer. Team is clicking, everybody knows their role, no need to screw with any of that. Sure there are still weaknesses but this is a winning team with increasing momentum. Stay healthy and bust some balls in the playoffs.

It's a big gamble.

Look at 2001. They brought in JYD, Childs and Montross and it really worked out well.

However, there is the chance it could upset the balance and there is also a chance someone could come in a mesh and raise the level of play another bar.

I'm inclined to say no, but I'm not Colangelo and I don't have my finger on the pulse of the team and I also don't know basketball like he does.

Should be fun the rest of the way regardless of a move or not.

Nothing out there will really benefit us, we have a good core they just need time to gel. No point in changing anything if we are winning. winning = above .500

Tough call because one of our biggest assets in Calderon has provided us with a huge boost to the second unit.

Jack has good chemistry with the starting 5. Turk has actually played better with Jack because Jack doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective. Turk does and so does Calderon.

Calderon off the bench is giving us the same spark we had in 2006-2007. He's the best back up PG in the NBA and could legitimately give us a valuable 6th man, something I don't think this team ever had.

Yes, I'd like to be stronger at the SG spot but I don't think I mess with this chemistry. Really, alot of this now is depending on the growth of DeRozan. If he can become a consistent 10-12 ppg scorer in the second half and continue to develop a jump shot then you don't make a move at all. If you don't think he makes that transition, then well, maybe you have to make a move.

It's a really, really close call.

I think you leave it as is and hope for success.

If this unit continues to win, than it is what it is, a winner with a rookie 2-guard that looks as though he may be the real deal, a center thats starting to bloom into a damn allstar, the best PF in the game, a savvy 3 guy that can handle the rock and two very capable PG's.

Toss in some very VERY decent role players...... if you ask me, a team is being built here...a good one.

We can't win in the playoffs with Derozan starting. If Wright can keep up his solid defensive play and be known as a "stopper", then we have all our pieces and he should be starting. Especially when Evans comes back we have offence, defence, rebounding etc.

The only way i'd do this is a change to bring in an all-starish calibre SG from a crappy team, but I don't think there is one on the market.

I like your thinking. Don't forget the acquisition of Keon "Mr. Gadget" Clark. I still think we need more production & defense at the wing position. Hedo had a great game yesterday, but the inconsistencies in the wing postion is very troubling. The Raptors should not shy away from the trade deadline. Look at Chicago, their season turned around when they acquired Salmons and Miller at the trade deadline. Let's make a splash, alot of good wing players available (Caron Butler, Andre Igoudala, Rudy Gay).

Yes, he is a resticted free agent this summer. The cheap owner of the Grizzlies Michael Heisley is afraid that some team will offer Rudy Gay big money this summer, an offer that he will not match.

BC has a very difficult decision to make. Do you make a bigger trade to try and really make noise, does he stay the course and see what this groupe can do with their new found chemistry?

It all comes down to the playoffs. Does BC see this team as currently constructed beating one of the top 4 teams? The playoffs are a different animal, and those teams will elevate considerably in the playoffs. Can this team take it up a few notches, is there another notch or two for this team or is this as good as they can play?

With the way we're playing i can't see BC making a big move for a SG or something unless it is an obvious move that makes us better. Another question is can we win in the playoffs with Derozan/Weems/Beli at the 2?? None of them have playoff experience, none of them are over 23.

I don'y envy BC's decion. Tough call.

Courtney Lee was a rookie and started and they went to the finals. Inexperience means you can't say anything about it until it happens. But it's still just basketball. And I'm pretty certain Jay won't throw them out there in crunchtime unless they're hot/made huge strides etc.

Evans+POB trade for a sharp shooting SG would be awesome.

Either way, BC can't win here imo. If he makes a more then minor move people will be upset he's fooling with the current team. If he does nothing and we lose in the first round pretty weakly he'll take heat from others for doing nothing to help our chances.

Unless the Grizz get an offer that completely blows them out of the water, they're not going to trade Rudy Gay.
