Default Should Bosh Put on More Muscle?

Simple question, what do you guys think? Is he good right now or does he need to get stronger? What about Bargnani? Do you guys think he needs to get bigger?

I believe Bosh is listed at 6'10 and 250. Pretty good?

Pretty good, but he's only 25. He'll get to 260 within the next few years in all likelyhood which is about where he should be.

Bargs could still stand to add a little more, in my completely and utterly uninformed opinion. Not so much that it interferes with his quickness or shooting, but a little more bulk would help him fight with bigger guys.

As he gets older and loses his quickness his only choice will be to get stronger so in terms of the natural progression of his game, yes.

Bargs has gained some muscle weight but he and the team would SERIOUSLY benefit from Bargs putting in a summer like Bosh just did.

Bosh's only move will not necessarily be to get bigger/stronger zachus, though as a power forward his game is much more power oriented than a guard.

Adding muscle and strength helps with a power game and the ability to finish in traffic but reduces quickness and adds to the pounding that your legs, knees, ankles and the rest of your lower body take.

MJ developed a killer fadeaway to his game in his early 30's to take the strain off his legs and pounding on his body.

I like Bosh's current size and weight just fine - he seems to have found a fantastic balance this year. What I would love for Bosh to do is to develop a lot more post moves for his back-to-the-basket game -- he should watch and study tape of Hakeem Olajuwon and Kevin McHale, the two great masters of the move-counter move post game.

Right now Bosh's go-to move (aside from his lethal J) is his square-up fake to the left or the right where he gets a defender to commit to Bosh moving left or right and then Bosh goes the opposite direction and goes by his defender with his quickness. This earns Bosh 2-4 trips to the line a night.

Bosh has a killer spin move that he uses rarely to clear space and ends with bit of a baby hook; what he could use now is some left-right spin moves where he spins one way, gets a guy in the air and then spins the other way, and finishes with either a short 1 handed jump shot, bank shot, hook shot or up-and-under depending on what the defender(s) give him.

There are very few NBA players who actually take full advantage of pivot moves anymore.

Bosh said that he is only half way through the transformation of his body. so far so good, but it sounds to me that he wants to be bigger.....he'll never be D. Howard, but can you see him as being a not-so-strong, quicker Howard with a better offensive game?

As for Bargnani, I don't think he needs to gain much more, but rather work on strength and quickness.

bargs was thinner than Bosh in first year, every year he has added muscle, Bargs is good at where he is now, now he just has to work on conditioning while keeping his size, plus working on his strength

this is the first year Bosh actually decided to put some muscle on, Bosh could use another 5 to 10 pounds of muscle without sacrficing his speed,(it took Bosh nearly 7 years to decide to put some muscle on)

250 pounds is about perfect for Bosh considering he is around 6'11". If he goes up to 260 he will be slow like Jermaine O'Neal and Tim Duncan and he doesn't need all that bulk because he rarely posts up deep in the paint. Also, more weight sometimes translates to more injuries. On the other hand I think Bargs will do better bulking up to 260 since he's playing the center spot.

Just to frame this, Bargnani said at the beginning of the year that he is 260. Bosh said he is about 245.

isnt it strabge that Bosh has two inches on lebron, yet lebron's 10 times faster. I wouldnt mind some bulk in the shoulders and legs.

I still don't believe that Bargs is 260. He was 225 upon entering the league and since then there hasn't been a noticible difference of 35 pounds added weight on his physique. Devlin is just brainwashing us about how much work Bargs spent in the weight room during the summer, he says this at least once every game. Be real here, Dwight is listed at 265 are you saying that Bargs is only 5 pounds lighter then him?

That's people always rant and rave about LBJ. He moves like MJ but he's got the body of Dwight Howard

LeBron is a freak of nature - look how broad his frame is. Most 6'8 guys move like Reggie Evans, not LeBron James!

i think Bargnani may be 255-260 but he's not cut. He filled in with pasta, not by hitting the weights. still quick enough though so it works for him.
I think dwight might be more then 265, looks more

Watch some of the games from 2006-2007 on Raps TV - Bargs is much much bigger now. It's very noticeable.

I don't know why it is, but they don't seem to update guys' weight on sites like NBA.com. It's like they measure and weigh when you enter as a rookie, then use that as a guideline, but they seem to take years to change that. That's why I can only go by what comes from guys' mouths. I'm pretty sure Bosh isn't still 230lbs like it says on NBA.com.
