Default Shawn Marion priorities

A couple years ago ESPN the Mag had an interview with Marion that I have never forgotten. I have always thought he is a good player that does a lot of things well, but far from a superstar and very overrated.
Anyways, in the interview, Marion was asked if he would rather be the star of a decent team, or continue in his current role in Phoenix. This is how Bill Simmons described the interview...
"Chris Palmer asked him if he'd rather be an MVP candidate and a 30-point scorer on a lesser team, or continue to do what he's doing on the second-best team in basketball.

"Wow, that's interesting," he says thoughtfully, as if he's never entertained the prospect before. Marion pauses nearly 10 seconds to concentrate on the question. "I've never been asked that," he continues. "That would be an interesting situation to be in, to really show people what I can do. [Pause] But we'd be in the playoffs, right?""
Is that really the kind of guy you want to bring in... somebody who would rather be a star than win? If he came to Toronto he would be in the exact role he was in with Phoenix. Instead of Nash/Amare/Marion it would be Calderone/Bosh/Marion.
It worked in Phoenix and maybe it is worth a shot since his contract is up-- never hurts to have a guy in a contract year, right Vince-- but I don't like the guy and his priority this season is himself and his new contract.

My point was that he is playing for himself this year and that is it. He could come and put up some big numbers and play for a big contract... but he could also turn out to be a home wrecker if he feels he isn't getting enough touches.

I think Bosh relishes the main man role, and not sure he would give it up either, behind that good guy persona i smell an egomaniac.

I don't think that Marion would want to do everything himself but would like to. It's like this I don't think I will be a NBA player but I want to. I think that is what he meant. That doesn't mean I want him here.

marion has nothing on Bosh to justify him being #1 on this team. For all his weaknesses, CB4 is a better player right now.
