This thread is hilarious... we have guys on here claiming jonas fucking valanciousouisousuoousos is actually much better that Shaq, and other guys saying Shaq is a stiff and only ever had any success because of other players.

Honestly man, give your heads a shake, he's one of the best centers to ever play the game, he was unstoppable in his prime, period.... look at the dudes numbers, and he did it all without being able to hit an effin free throw. Short memories on sonme of you guys.

but honestly...Jonas?????? Are you fucking mad??????

Jonas > all you haters
In fact, when Jonas was in preschool 15 years ago, he was already bigger, prettier and wrote cooler RaptorsForum posts than you do today.

I'd be interested to know who everyone thought was better than Bosh at PF last season. Obv Dirk, Amar'e, Blake (didn't translate to team success), Lamarcus? (didn't translate to team success), Love? (didn't translate to team success).

Who else?

I think all then names you just mentioned were better players than Bosh last year with the exception of Kevin Love.

Dirk, Aldridge, Pau, Amare and Zach Randolph - those are the obvious ones imo.
Other than that...

I don't think Blake was better than Bosh last year. Blake was one of the laziest PF defenders, right next to Blatche.
Love? I'm not sure. Bosh is the better defender, Love is the better rebounder. I could see an argument for either one of them.
KG and Duncan were also in Bosh's league, even if they weren't up to their old MVP standards.
David West was also arguably better than Bosh before he got injured.

So in terms of full season, I'd say Bosh was the 6th best PF last year. But if someone puts him no.10 behind KG, Duncan, West and Love, fair enough.

PS: LaMarcus didn't translate to team success? Blazers were awesome, and they took Mavs to 6 games. How is that not success? They were legitimately close to winning that series. In fact, I thought they'd win before game 5. So LaMarcus's awesomeness absolutely translated to Blazers' awesomeness imo.
It's too bad that LaMarcus didn't have great first few months of the season, and they didn't get Gerald Wallace till winter. If that team was no.4 spot instead of no.6, I think they'd be in conference finals.

Fair one.

Interesting my research show's that Bosh was actually the 11th best power forward last year in terms of his NBA efficiency rating. I would have expected him to be higher, but learning to play with LBJ and Wade must have been 'tough'. I still think he's one of the most valuable 10-15 players in the NBA.

i think you've mentioned the right people. I would only put dirk and griffin as obviously better than bosh. If you look at the numbers stoud, aldridge and Bosh were fairly comparable, on teams that at least made play-offs (to a certain degree i think counts as success.) I think those 3 are a good comparison.

Stoud with the edge maybe?

I always feel the need to defend Bosh as a player (couldn't give a toss about all the drama TBH). I thought he was mind blowingly good at times during his lest season with the Raps. Guess who the top 3 most efficient forwards were in the NBA that season?

1
LeBron James , CLE
32.42
2
Kevin Durant , OKC
27.96
3
Chris Bosh , TOR
26.67

Worthy of his Miami deal if you ask me (relatively speaking).

when just talking about those 3 i would rank them ald, stoud, bosh, with very little between them.

Out of the 3 stoud is probably the most entertaining but despite his decent ast numbers i always find he looks for his own numbers first. Puts himself first. Prob has decent ast numbers coz knicks played a fast, point scoring game last year.

I really like aldridge myself, but yes i agree with you Bosh can be too havily criticised, although i do get why. I don't think Bosh has a bad personality per se, but he definitely punked us with the way he left. If he coulda done what melo did, we would be in a much better place right now. But then again whatever your opinion on his personality that doesn't change the fact that he is a very good player.

I think if you mean the future, Griffin is obviously a great bet to be much better than Bosh.
But if you mean today, I don't see how you could call him better.
A PF version of young Vince, with even less D.
The disturbing trend - his D got lazier every month, even as his stats got better. I loved his game in preseason and in autumn. Non stop motor. But he would get tired by 3rd quarter. So then he just stopped coming back on D. His stats and dunks went through the roof, but his teammates were defending 4 on 5 much of the time.

I'm a big believer in his future. But last year, I would have had Bosh on my team, hands down.

TBH Dirk is the only PF that I'd put clearly over Bosh based on what I've seen over the past few years (now that KG and Duncan have slowed down). There a bunch of guys who are right at the same level IMO (Pau, Amare, Zach), but that's about it.

I figured that he did enough last season (during the playoffs esp.) to prove the naysayers wrong.... I guess not.

All that being said, it's hard NOT to be impressed with Griffin and Love. Both have bright futures ahead of them.

The question was "who was better than Bosh last season?" btw. Not "based on the past few years".
The other guys, they played like legitimate MVP candidates even if for a few months last year. Pau and Amare first half of the season.
Aldridge the second half.
Z-Bo played like an MVP candidate most of the year and all playoffs tbh, and he would've been a candidate....if he wasn't Z-Bo... and if Grizzlies were a 56 wins team instead of 46 (which would be very realistic if they had full year of Tony Allen and Rudy Gay).
Bosh, he had some flashes and some good games. Not at the level of those 4.
