SF spot !
like many of the poster here, i was worry about the SF spot.
but i think JJ and forbes would do a good job at this position, until Kleiza can come back.

JJ is still young, only in his 3rd year (actually his second year playing in the game). so i think he can evoluate his game. he has show us he can be a solid defender, can he become more a scorer as well that the question.

Forbes. i don't know him, but yesterday he show he can score and also defend in one-on-one. good sign.

Kleiza. the question is can he come a be productif as he was in euroleague ! he has some size, he can rebound, and he can shoot.
with this 3, it seems tome we are way better than we werre the past season.
(weems-turgoglu-A.wright 2010 ans weems-kleiza-Ju Wright 2011)

so my question is do you think we will need to invest or trade for a SF right now or next summer ?
why not make JJ-kleiza work ?

RAPMAN 12-19-2011 10:58 AM

Probably the deepest position for the Raps. Love the defense of James Johnson and Forbes.

DanH 12-19-2011 11:00 AM

I like JJ and Forbes too - they are more than good enough for this season, and whoever shows more promise gets to stay to back up Barnes ;)

Bankiz 12-19-2011 11:14 AM

yeah danh, the SF is deep, but i think the sg spot is also deep, as the PF spot.

the center position is fine for this year, so that leaves us again with our pg problem.
but maybe later in the season, bayless would have showed us that he can be our pg forward.

but yeah i'm happy with our sf rotation.

box92 12-19-2011 02:00 PM

ye loving the SF spot, johnson played an awesome 10 min

OP13 12-19-2011 02:35 PM

Well, maybe I'm not very objective talking about him, but if Kleiza will fully recover from his injury and starts showing what he showed in 09-10 season + WC he is easily NBA starting 5 talent. I saw how he played healthy and I can assure you that he didn't play a single game without pain last season. So I think Kleiza(if healthy) plus JJ could easily work, the much bigger problem for now to solve is PG spot. Draft PG next year, trade Bargs for something valuable, with Jonas here Raps are pretty much a playoff team. Plus all that capspace is enough to make a big move for a FA.

Shifty.py 12-19-2011 04:57 PM

I agree that Kleiza should take starting spot when he is back to 100%
But then again if JJ keeps giving us D...

Bayless Derozan JJ Amir Bargnani
Calderon Barbosa Kleiza Davis

This rotation seems balanced and makes sense in many ways for me

MrClutch 12-19-2011 06:39 PM

nah Kleiza has to earn his way back to the starting 5

Bankiz 12-19-2011 07:07 PM

they all have to earn their spot, if not, casey will not gain wath he wants to !

Carlito 12-19-2011 07:15 PM

Our SF players are decent bench players ... still need a star if we want to be a contender. Not neded to be a playoff team.

Wilson Chandler 2012-13 :dancing:

Im also very happy with our SF selection this year JJ/Forbes/Butler. I was never a huge fan of Butler when he was with the Hornets/Clippers, but he's good at helping spreading the floor. JJ has very good defense but what really concerns be is that he still very foul prone. Unless he can stay out of foul trouble consistently, I think he would be coming off the bench for us in the near future, assuming we are going to draft a SF this year

Admiral 12-19-2011 08:00 PM

if needed demar could play some SF, he did it last year in the 4th quarters when they played bayless and jose together

Dario 12-20-2011 04:24 AM

I say JJ starts, and G-Fo gets some good minutes in, I like both of they're play styles

Superjudge 12-20-2011 10:34 AM

We don't have a PG, or a three... not even close.

We have a decent center coming next year, and Bargnani is basically auditioning for PF this short season.

The three's are auditioning to back up the three that will be found via free agency to pick up a stud at three.

Calderon is around to try to give Bayliss what he can. Think about it, a baylis with the maturity and humility of a Calderon would be deadly.

This year is a giant Training camp folks. So stop worrying about anything but watching battles for key positions.

The old guys are there to teach the young ones, and the young ones that listen will have jobs. One of Davis, Bargs, and Amir will be gone. It's a battle.

kleiza...likely amnestied as he teaches nothing. JJ, working to prove he deserves to be an off the bench 3 on a competing team. He already failed once at it in Chicago, this is his last chance.

This is what you're looking at. Period.

DDUnreal 12-20-2011 12:02 PM

I agree with everything SJ, except the Kleiza bit I don't see him getting amnestied. Maybe traded this offseason in a package since his stock is low, but I don't see the raps just getting rid of him.

Superjudge 12-20-2011 12:10 PM

Ya, that was a bit of a space cadet guess, mostly because you never know what they plan to do with that, seeing as they are tanking they may rather get a warm body if they have to pay him.... Calderon maybe if Carter looks like he can actually eat minutes...if he can he can be the new "teacher".

Either way, This year is fun, it's like a giant tryout.

Yeah I just don't see them using their amnesty on kleiza.
