Default SF showdown

say you have the luxury to pick between ariza at 8/yr, marion at 9/yr and hedu at 10/yr. Ariza brings potential, defense and energy, marion brings defense, rebounding, some offense, hedu brings mege offense and some defense.

Who do you pick?

ariza because he is younger, not at his peak and can get the team back on track after being down 13 points, also he can dunk and defend better than marion and hedo

I like Marion. With him, Bosh and Evans we will not be getting killed on the boards anymore, and have more guys that don't need the ball but can score from garbage and bring some defense.

Ariza
he's younger, better defender and his rebounding is not a huge drop off compared to Marion and he's the least expensive option

Hedo is just a better score, Raps already have that
defense and rebounding are more important for this team, $10 mil is too much

That's a lot of money for any of the 3. I wouldn't pay Ariza 8 mil a year. Or Marion 9 mil. Or Turkoglu 10 million.

Ariza is useless on offence without people triple teaming kobe for his open 3's.

Ariza fits into LA's system because they have 5 scoring options before him (4 starters + odom).. and Marion fits into our system (he covers Barg's weak rebounding and gets all garbage/fast break points).

then you likely wouldn't get any of them and their aren't a lot of other options.

just wondering... what would you pay to get them???

I would pay Marion 8 mil. But even if we can get him for 9 I wouldn't mind. But I only want him to sign a 3 year contract

7-8 mil max. Not a penny more. There's not going to be a lot of demand for either Ariza or Marion at those prices mentioned above.

If this poll was posted before the playoffs everyone would be laughing at the fact that Ariza is even being mentioned (and for 8 mil no less).
Ariza is a good player on a good team, that is all. we've seen how he's done on mediocre and shit teams and it is not impressive whatsoever.
sure he's grown up and gotten better, and the Lakers definitely owe him alot of recognition for this seasons championship, but he wasnt outstanding throughout the year, and was pretty much a good role player on a great team. his offense pretty much feeds off kobe double teams. his Defense is good and he has excellent hands, but he isnt a defensive dynamo by any means.

if i had the choice, i'd select Hedo for 10 mil.
10 mil for a guy who can score 20, add 5 and 5 - spread the floor, hit the 3, sub in for PG duty, and wants the ball at crunch time. thats the guy i want.
how many close games did we lose last season because our 'star' failed to deliver in crunch time? too many to count. give me hedo, please.

Hedo at 10 mil, Insider? I dunno man. I like his handles, his shooting abilities and his performance in the crunch, but I don't think he'll be a 20ppg player here. Maybe 16-17 max, but I agree on the fact that we'd probably look at him down the stretch to take some big shots. Then again, with Bargs and Bosh being perimeter players, you need guys who will be able to clean the glass and Marion does that a lot better than Hedo.

Hedo at 10.

Turkoglu can still give you 5-8 boards on any given night, and the dude still averaged five and a half boards playing alongside Dwight Howard. So I mean if BC chooses to not sign Hedo, it won't be because of any rebounding deficiencies.

Fact is, we need a guy that can create, score, and make plays from the wing and Turkoglu can do that MUCH, MUCH better than either of those two. That and the dude has onions coming out of his ying yang.

All of those contracts are overpaid, especially if that is their starting salary.

once again we're looking at defense i say we sign marion and then we sign someone who can create their own shot to back up marion at sf. anthony parker needs to be willing to sign for 3-900,000 mil a year for 3 years. marion no more than 9 mill and offer him every figure available down to the dollar before 9mill.
just looking at free agents this summer what's a guy like wally scerbiak go for these days?
i've always liked gerald green ever since he won the dunk contest what's he go for?
walter hemann? jamall crawford?josh mcroberts?steve novak? damon jones?rodney carney?d mason? donyell marshall? theo ratliff? rashad mccants?michael finley?okur?korver?almond?the booze? juan dixon(although, we traded him cause he was havin some problems. he did play good with raps)?

could somebody answer what all these guys go for, pleezz

I voted Ariza, but there's no way we get him. He's definitely going to re-up with the Lakers.

So if we had an equal chance of getting all three, then he's the #1 pick. But we don't, so realistically if we can get Marion or Hedo for a reasonable amount we should take it.

Gotta love Ariza's game, but I would be shocked if he left LA.

I voted for Hedo. I think people are underestimating him and overestimating Ariza. Ariza only seemed so good because the defence of the opposing team were focused on other players like Kobe and Gasol and Bynum, that's why he gets open looks all the time. He is a solid defender but I'd rather have Hedo even if he will cost more. Again Hedo is very gifted with his offensive quickness and skills at 6'10'' which gives him a big advantage at 3. But if we aquire him I believe we need to make some changes (e.g. trading either Bosh or Bargs for a real C)

Hedo is great and I'd be happy to have him, but don't you feel like he duplicates a lot of skills we already have?
