seriously ?

i did go see what team will compete with toronto in the FA market this summer, to see how BC can bring here a big FA or a RFA.
name of the team and what they are commited for the next season :

1.Nets 10M - 48M capspace (if williams opt out) - 31M (if he stay one more year)
2.phoenix 30M - 28M capspace*
3.Cleveland 31M - 27M capspace
4.NOH 34M - 24M capspace
5.indiana 35M - 23M capspace
5.boston 35M - 23M capspace

7.memphis - 41M - 17M capspace
7.Dallas 41M - 17M capspace
9.Detroit 42M - 16M capspace
10.toronto 43M - 15M capspace
10.Denver 43M - 15M capspace
10.sacramento 43 M - 15M capspace
13.charlotte 44M - 14M capspace
14.orlando 46M - 12M capspace (if D12 opt out)
14.GSW 46M - 12M capspace
16.Houston 47M - 11M capspace
17.Utah 48M - 10M capspace
18.SAS 50M - 8M capspace*

* for teams whom have big name vet player, who certainly will stay there (exemple: SAS: duncan or PHX: nash)

i don't count teams like okc or minnesota whom will sign there big RFA (LOVE westbrook)

for toronto i take on consideration Jonas(4M) and don't bring bayless back.

so seriously after studiing this numbers, do you still think BC can bring here what we need at sf and PG ?

INSIDER 01-15-2012 07:16 PM

who's expiring over the summer?
that capspace wont be that large if we plan on re-signing whomever's departing.

Bankiz 01-15-2012 07:21 PM

barbosa is our only expiring, exept for nuttler, forbes, gray, magloire and carter, who you can resign for vet minimum even over the cap.

maybe bayless would be resign and then we would have only 10M. and if you add a 5-10 pick, you count 3M more. i already take jonas on consideration so...
we stay with 7M in capspace.. LOL.

Next season we'll have a 39 million dollar payroll. BC signed a lot of one year contracts & there is going to be a lot of expiring contracts for 2012-2013. Alabi, gray, butler, barbosa, forbes, carter, jamal are all going to expire, and most likely won't be renewed (maybe barbosa will).

Don Vito 01-15-2012 07:25 PM

By the way you should take into consideration that any player could get traded. I highly doubt every non-expiring contract will be with us next season.

39M if you don't take jonas and our new draft pick in consideration.

Saying that we will even get a top 10 pick is a hypothesis itself. Hell, it could even get traded. No one has a crystal ball to predict the future, till then people will stick with their assumptions.

BC can't do shit.

RaptorsFan4Life 01-15-2012 10:02 PM

IDK what he will do but I hope he drafts the BPA (hopefully a SF) and goes after a PG like Dragic who is young, cheap and isn't just a scorer.

Ha, that's funny.

Kirby 01-16-2012 01:03 AM

go hard for Wilson Chandler.

KoolAid 01-16-2012 05:24 PM

I'm with Colangelo. These 4 months can't go by fast enough. Let's not forget that Colangelo is capable of some complex moves that we will never see coming.
There is also going to be pent up aggression to release and the issue of only having a short deal as a GM. This is likely to be a huge summer.

Dark Knight 01-16-2012 11:55 PM

Let's not forget we've got a draft wizard in Stefanski by Colangelo's side.

Toby 01-17-2012 01:15 AM

You guys play in the Ultimate East Coast Hackball Division.
Size and muscles are a must, but first I'd suggest you fill that gaping hole at small forward. Then look for more guys that are good at playing through contact on offense. Aggressive guys that like getting to the free throw line are getting hard to find.

+1

People tend to also forget that both Colangelo and Casey are in their final year next season and significant improvement will have to be shown.

Hang onto your hats. We are just about to move into a phase of creating some buzz and gaining some respectability, maybe for several years straight if the right moves are made. Raptors fans deserve it.

Dario 01-18-2012 09:24 PM

I have been waiting years to see Raptors get some reall ALLstar talent

This is pretty funny because we're on the verge of a Celtics blowout.

No, I'm not talking about now. I'm talking about the tank and what it tends to produce. It gets young, inexpesive talent, clears bad contracts, gets young players court time and lets you see where your real holes are that need to be addressed.

I don't want to overstate it and say we're out of the woods, but you can't underestimate high pick JV, high pick this year, likely a decent pick next year, money to spend and moveable assets.
