Default This is a serious question

At this point of the season, I have read many people ready to give up on the Raptors and Chris Bosh and Jermaine O'Neal. Does every one or some or most of us here really believe this team needs to be scuttled and rebuilt? I don't think we have the tools to get into the playoffs at this point, but would love to hear what you all think about this.

you are allowed to pick more than one answer!

We will make the playoffs because our sched finishes with a run of disinterested teams.

Then Boston or Cleavland or Orlando will kill us in 5 games.

Pretty hard to see any other scenario playing out.

So yes, this team needs some major adjustments.

No GM would make such a rash decision to rebuild this team. If BC would announce he is going to tear the thing down I really wouldn't say anything negatively but their is way too much money at stake and people spent alot of money buying tickets at the ACC so that would just ruin its integrity.

If BC can make some sort of deal to recieve some talent I'd like to see it. Being a HUGE Bargnani supporter in his brief tenure here I would say the experiement is slowly coming to a close. Its too bad because he has so much talent but still insists on playing like a 2guard all the time.

This team is OK right now but unfortunately being up against the luxury tax makes it harder to make a change

The interesting thing is that most of us, Raptors fans, were OK with JO trade in summer and if JO doesn't work out then we have the option in 2010 to use the cap space freed by letting JO go. This is changed now, almost everybody wants to win right away, break down the team and rebuild.

The way how is built this team right now has few but important holes: we have 4/5 covered by top players JO/CB4/AB but 3/2 by average ones AP/JK/Moon/JG. Also, the backup PG is not something that helps Raptors to rest starter PG (Jose); also, the bench is too weak.

So, this team has to be more balanced. One of JO/CB4/AB has to go. Obviously CB4 has the best value but is very difficult to trade him at fair value. JO is too risky for many teams and probably will have much more value next year as expiring contract. AB value is not the highest one and he needs to play better in order to get something for him. As much as Raptors sucks right now, a move that involves any of AB/JO/CB4 is probably premature and might affect Raptors in long run. BC has to do the right thing and I believe is not a easy job to do so. Is easy to pull the trigger, Bobcock did this with VC and we all know what Raptors got for that.

Let's face it guys, this year was all about putting ourselves in a position (at least salary wise) to get some real talent in 2009 and 2010. If we make the play offs we will be lucky, for sure a first round exit.

Changes definately need to be made, coach is finally gone and style of play is starting to change for the better.

Bargs needs to be given starting center gig now, not later. He defends the post better than Bosh and JO. Offensively JO is too much like Bosh for it to work.

JO, and filler(Moon or picks) should be traded for Marion Anthony and Cook.(actually alot of rumours involving TO and Marion and this, in my opinion is the only thing that would make sense)

We get hurt salary wise but but we would get a backup sg and starting sf(who is averageing more rpg than JO)

Jose/Ukic/Solomon
Kaps/AP/Cook
Marion/Joey/Kaps
Bosh/Hump/Joey
Bargs/Anthony/Voskul

AP and Joey would then be expendable for a swingman and another big.

If Marion leaves at years end, 17 million off the books for any other of the available FA's

Well thought out and sounds like an instant recharge for the team. I'm glad someone mentioned Bargs and his defense which I do agree he defends Bigs better than JO and Bosh.

However; when is he gonna stop thinking he is a 2guard on offense?

yup, playing gm is fun

i think that as GM, we should listen carefully to the wise words of the MOTM DVS and i agree that Bargs does defend the post well. I also agree with snooch that if Bosh wants to truly lead this team, he needs to put his nose into the faces of some of the floaters on this team and get mean. His intensity has dropped as have his numbers and the team has not been able to over come that drop most nights. something has to be done and it might mean losing CB4 though i honestly don't like the idea of BC having the chance to go through another draft... IMHO

If trading Andrea could net us a solid wing player or a more aggressive bruising big I'd do it.

His value is very high, or as high as it will be all year barring a remarkable return to form.

I hate to say it, but if a very solid vet could be got, you have to pull that trigger.

How likely is it though.... only the GM know's.

I still like the idea of trading JO and Graham for like Hinrich/Hughes/Gray and then moving Calderon and Parker for Outlaw/Webster from Portland.

Hinrich/Ukic
Hughes/Webster/Kapono
Outlaw/Webster/Moon/Kapono
Bosh/Bargnani/Hump
Bargnani/Gray

Wouldn't hurt our 2010 plans really, other than Hinrich's contract being a bit bigger than Jose's and getting Webster on the books who we probably want to keep anyways.

While i'm not "giving up", i'm am very dissapointed in Chris Bosh's performance. Basically, ever since he said he aimed to be the "MVP", he's been anything but. Especially on the defensive end and rebounding. Christ - yesterday, he was continually being out hustled by Brook Lopez, Boone, and Anderson.

Now i'm not saying trade him for anything. I don't WANT him gone... I just want him to stop playing like he shouldn't be expected to go all out because he's the franchise player.... and sorry, but that's how he's playing right now.

BC is in a tough place right now as for whatever reason (chemistry, effort, "system", etc), things just aren't working out. I think we kind of have to wait it out as there is enough talent here to regain some of our 3-0 form. But at the same time, Colangelo should be open ears to any trade that improves this team. Nobody should be untouchable

Hinrich pushes the ball up the floor about as much as Jose Calderon does.

He's much better defensively. That's why I'd be in favor of having him.

We need to trade Bargs AND pay some luxury tax to acquire an all-star swingplayer.

We can give Bargs minutes to Hump.

That would put us over the top.

i don't think that's viable. I question if MLSE would allow the team to go over the cap in the first place. Maybe if we were one piece away from championship contention. maybe...

but at this rate. I guarantee there's no chance BC can go over the cap. None.

Hump does work hard on the glass and that is what we are missing right now... who would trade for Bargnani at this point??
