He's stayed away from hasty moves that would be lateral or not having a lasting impact. It's about the future, so there had better be a blueprint. I'll be looking very closely at the trade deadline and around the time of the draft to see if he has anything concrete in mind. What kind of core group does he have in mind to fit with Casey's way of seeing things? That's what I hope to see a glimpse of sooner rather than later.

you may be right, but I prefer to Batum, because he is young but already has experience, he is ready and we should not wait for him

I think that between him, Casey and Stefanski they can do some good things going into next season. Good god I hope so!

I think Casey should definitely help in terms of knowing what he wants and needs, and not being the yes man that Triano was. And Stefanski should help as a guy that insists on thinking everything through properly no matter how sexy things might look. They need to see the forest and the trees. If they can work well together they might do well in that sense.

Even though Alex English wasn't a great assistant coach, he really could help players develop and improve their shooting like he did with Amir last season. Now he is on the Kings' coaching staff.

you really think GMs are that stupid? Jose is a known commodity in this league, everybody knows what he can/can't do. I doubt we'd have an advantage by trading him now.

only thing I can think of that it might make it easier on an opposing GM to sell the deal to his owner

So if the lakers offered their first rounder for Caldy, you wouldn't do it?

no way. 2 reasons.

1 - jose is much better than a mid-late first rounder.
2 - that trade is what barbosa is for.

Let's assume the trade go's down, and Barbosa is also dealt. You take those 2 first rounders and trade up for a top 10 pick, so you have two top ten picks.

Teams rarely take two late first rounders for a lottery.... not going to happen. You might give our first and a second first rounder to move up a couple spots at best.

Do you care what Raptors org. pays their players? Do you think Jose's big wage doesn't allow stars to come to Toronto? We already have flexibility up to our rears.
Jose's the ideal PG to facilitate the development of young players. He'll do exactly what the coach tells him, and would put the team first anyway. Maybe you miss TJ Ford and think he'd be better suited for the team? I don't.
This dream of building a championship team is so illusory. Why would a team that already have such a PG (championship, build round) give him up??
Do you think Jose could make a good team a contender? Then, how can you discard the possibility of him doing it here?
The problem of Toronto is not overpaying players, it's to find players to overpay. They couldn't even convince Chris Botch to take max contract, which however was very fortunate.
I can see us doing what Knicks did a few years ago, cause I think we can get that desperate, then we're screwed for even longer.
But if you think you can enjoy marinated cap space, yeah, let's trade or amnesty Jose!

I'm kind of getting that feeling as well. The only exceptions imo are Barbosa, who's an expiring and i guess the Raps probably have an idea if he'd re-sign here or even if they want to re-sign him. The other being Calderon, BC would be stupid not to listen to offers and if he gets a deal that makes sense then maybe he does it. Ultimately i think Barbosa though is the more likely of the two, but i just get that same feeling that nothing will happen.

I'm also getting that same feeling. Barbosa could be moved if they think he will cost too much to resign or if he doesn't want to stay in toronto or if they get a great offer. It is very hard to find a trade that would make sense and be fair for both teams regarding trading Jose. A possible one could be Jose for Felton. Portland wouldn't have to worry about resigning their PG and Jose would have fun passing to Matthews, Crash, Crawford, Batum and LA. Raps get a decent PG who they can either extend, use in a sign and trade, or let him walk as he's an expiring. HOWEVER, this trade has little to no chance of happening but makes some sense.
