Are you kidding. The guy that turned Haffa into hump, george into belli, turk into barbosa, JO into marion . I would trust him. besides if he gets low balled he's not forced to make a deal.

+1

he almost netted us chandler and diaw for jose last year didn't he? come on, BC has his short comings, but trades certainly isn't one of them.

Yeah, Portland coud definitely use him, assuming Crawford and Felton continue to build brick houses. I'm not sure they'd be willing to give up the pieces we want though, unless they are really desperate to win now. I have trouble seeing us getting Batum or Matthews. I assume those are the pieces you are referring to. Maybe we get one if it's a larger deal where we send back another rotation player with Jose. I can definitely see them relinquishing a pick though, because it almost certainly won't be a lotto if they have a healthy Jose knocking down enough shots to keep the opposing D honest.

Nope. Felton is shooting bricks. So is Crawford. If they traded for Jose, it would be because that problem has continued. They're costing Portland close games. That's why LX has a point.

Also, Felton is an expiring. Portland has little invested in Felton. So what if he gets upset? Let him walk. Nobody in Portland is going to be wondering who should be starting. People who don't watch Portland might, but nobody in Portalnd's organization will.

There is also the possibility that we take Felton back. Since he is expiring, that's one way of eliminating Jose's contract, assuming that's a route BC wants to take. I'm not saying that's the best deal for us, or likely, just saying it works for a particular plan. You take Felton, if he continues to suck, that helps you tank and create huge cap space right away. If Felton turns things around, then maybe you negotiate a new contract with him. You give the car a test drive and decide whether or not to to buy it.

I didn't realize Felton was an expiring, otherwise I would have suggested the possibility of him coming this way. If only a better pick was to be had there. They don't have a stockpile anymore?

The site I was checking could be wrong, but, if it's right, they don't have anybody else's first rounders. In fact, they still owe Charlotte a pick, which they might have to give up in 2013. I don't think it's set in stone that the pick has to go to the Bobcats in 2013; there are conditions. But, the fact that they might have to give up the 2013 one, makes me wonder if they're even allowed to trade their 2012 pick. In the old CBA, you couldn't trade your 1st rounder in back-to-back years. But, either way, I don't think Portland will be sending us a potential lotto.

I could easily be wrong. Bryan Colangelo seems to me to be like a mutual fund manager and the net effect of all his trades is almost zero (the difference being luck).

He hasn't appeared to be working off a definitive blueprint, and that's what makes the net effect seem less than overwhelming. And that is supposed to be one thing that has changed this year, and hopefully going forward for some time. It's all about the blueprint now. I hope.

After today's game Laker fans are dying for Jose, who could we get in return out of L.A?

Hmm, Only if we would get someone to replace him at the pg spot (not talking about Bayless)

I have a feeling that this third trade for Artest is not as outlandish as others

You may be right, Walton's contract is too long so BC wouldn't want him.

I think the only way we get the pick is:

Jose

4

MWP, Blake & there 1st round pick

I wonder if Metta would even play here?
Or would he pull a Zo?

Portland indeed owes their 2013 pick, which means they can't trade their 2012 or 2014 picks. If we got a first rounder in return from them, it would have to be a 2015 pick or later.

What I think is I'd rather see Batum play @ SF. Anyway, the only question you have to ask yourself there is whether or not Batum is better then whatever player we'd pick.
