A piece comparing the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Toronto Raptors. Sort of.

The Boston Red Sox have been wildly successful recently. Having said that, the two big-ticket players they’ve acquired (Dice-K and JD Drew) are hardly the focal points of their team.

Jesus.

"diceK" isn't a focal point? He lost 3 games...... 3 GAMES!!!

He won 18.

I would argue he's very much a focal point for anyone who cares to actually pay attention.

Glad to know you'd throw him ahead of Beckett. His 4.79 ERA in the post-season is the opposite of good.

You're allowed ONE pitching focal point in my hypothetical exercise.

Thank you, was just about to say that. Hell, Dice K had a mediocre first year.

Mediocre?

You guys are something.

I'll take 5 mediocre pithers on my rotation then.

Nobody can carry a team in today's NBA.

Mario Chalmers, and Daequan Cook are playing like they've been in the league longer than they have.

Joel Anthony makes his presence felt in most games with tenacious defense.

Haslem has always been solid.

Even Jamal found away to contribute by playing D12 extremely well one on one when Orlando was in Miami.

Wade is playing incredible basketball, but that team is winning because their whole rotation has been solid.

Getting rid of Manny was the best move they could've made. They didn't win becuase they didn't have a healthy Beckett, Ortiz, Drew or Lowell.

Pedro was never healthy either for that matter and he always faded after the all-star break.

except for the playoffs, when it's awesome. frankly it's teh same thing for golf. who cares when it's a bunch of chumps and the match hardly means anything, but for the majors and a few other big tourneys it's fantastically exciting.
