I don't think we drafted an all star in Terrence Ross.

On the other hand, to me he looks like a guy that will be a big contributor to his team's success.

They called him a 3/D player in the link, which is true, but he's more than that. He doesn't just hit open looks, he can also make offense for himself on the perimeter with a good shot fake, and some smooth one/two dribble moves.

Also, he has the athleticism to be very valuable in transition.

To me he looks like one of those guys that the coach loves, but never really gets his due from the national media. At least, not until they see him as a key contributor on a winning team.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear that DC was a big supporter of TRoss before he was picked.

The new additions look solid to me, and I can see some comparisons with past fan favorites. I would compare Lowry/TRoss/Landry with Alvin/Christie/MoPete.

If Ross can play defense and hit open 3s then I'll be happy

because Weems likely will be end of bench fodder at best.

How do you know that Ross won't end up that way? We have no idea how good or bad Ross will be so comparing him to anyone is a little premature.

The pessimism is strong in this one.

It's pessimism to say lets wait and see to make judgement on a player that has yet to play a professional game? Ridiculous!

I'm not saying that, I'm just saying you're realist opinion is flawed. From what I saw in Summer League (and say all you want about Summer League, but it is still a good way to help gauge your prospects) Ross should be a capable NBA rotation player over the course of his career. There is little chance that Ross ever ends up as end-of-the-bench material. Very little.

*Knock on wood*

How many D guys do we need now that we have K-LOW and Fields with Jonas? This team will be able to get stops but we lack scorers. AB is our best scorer and then what?
I still feel we should have drafted a scorer.

Bargnani- 20ppg
Lowry 14-16ppg
Derozan 16ppg
Fields 10ppg
Valanciunas 9-11ppg

The second unit might lack some scoring but Calderon, Ross, Kleiza might be ok. I have a feeling Valanciunas will be on the second unit anyway to start the season. The starting 5 shouldn't have too much trouble scoring between Bargs/Lowry/Derozan.

Using 2010 as an example, take a look at the all-summer league team to see how success there can really mean nothing:

Most Outstanding Player
John Wall (Washington)

All-Tournament Team
Sam Young (Memphis)
JaVale McGee (Washington)
Reggie Williams (Golden State)
DeMar DeRozan (Toronto)
JJ Hickson (Cleveland)
Ty Lawson (Denver)
Dominique Jones (Dallas)
Derrick Caracter (LA Lakers)
Larry Sanders (Milwaukee)
Gani Lawal (Phoenix)
Jermaine Taylor (Houston)
Alonzo Gee (San Antonio)

And the last summer league MVP I could find before that from 2006: Randy Foye.

I thoroughly enjoy jeffb being called a pessimist for saying we should wait for a single NBA second played before assuming he'll be good.
