Default Sam Mitchell is a lousy coach

Raptors and Heat...Raps up by 17....pulls Oneal Bosh and eL maGO...Puts in Hump i cannot play basketball phrey ...will i am not a point guard solomon and Kapono. Mitchell could have subbed some of these guys out b4 they blew the 17 point lead...he just sits there and does nothing. He is a high shool bball coach at best. The Raps need some respectability at the coaching level... and knowing Bryan Colangelo... he's not stupid to not notice Sam Mitchell's bad coaching. He has the playeres respect sure...but that is doing the Raptors no good. I see it all the time. The raps take a huge lead. He puts in the mop up guys wayyyy to early and sits there while they squander the lead. Too bad D'Anoini went to the Knick's I am positive Mitchell will be Replaced next year. they need an elite coach like when t they brought in Wilkins. Sorry for the typos I am typing this in pure anger at Mitchell's poor judgment. The guy sucks and thinks that he can just kick back while tyhe raps are on the road and let them figure it out themselves. Enough said. Pissed off!!!

It's the most elementary thing... if your bench sucks, then make sure you have at least 2 of your big players (in this case our big 4) on at all times. If you do your job properly you can max everyone out at 35-37 minutes like that and survive. Putting Solomon on with the Bargs/Bosh/JO lineup... that'll mask his shittiness. Putting Solomon on with Kapono, Moon, and Humps... that'll just lead to a bad day and force you to play your big members 43 minutes+. Mix in Kapono, Moon, and Hump's minutes with at least 2 members of the big 4 at different times. Taking out Bosh for 12 minutes is sustainable IF during those 12 minutes our lineup has Calderon, Parker, Bargs, and JO in it. Then the rest is sustainable as long a Bosh and one of the others is on. Seriously like kindergarton stuff Sam... come on.

He put in the mop up guys to start the 4th,as he should so that the starters can play the final 8 minutes. The problem is our bench sucks ass. It's a shame that Sam can't give his sarters much of a blow with any confidence in the bench players.

I don't have a problem with what Sam did tonight. They were up by a lot in the 4th, they played last night, play on Friday and have the Celtics on Sunday. Any rest you can get your bigs is essential. When things got sticky down the stretch, he put them back in. They won the game, they had to expend a little more energy than they wanted to, but they won.

JO or Bosh should have been put in once the lead got down to 8 or 10 at the end of the 3rd. At that point anyone with a brain saw the Heat had all of the momentum and we needed to get one of them in to kill the Heats flow or at least protect the basket. Smitch waited until the 9 or 10 minute mark of the 4th when we were up only 4 I believe.

Theres rest and theres losing, and that terrible coaching decision almost cost us the game. Being up 15 on the road with 16 minutes left in the game means absolutely nothing in the NBA, Smitch should know that from experience with all the leads we've given up in his reign especially vs the elite players who come back and destroy us. (see James, Lebron and Bryant, Kobe)

Unless we're up 20 with 10 to go Bosh or Oneal HAS to be on the floor. You can still rotate them and give them some good rest, but one of them needs to be in at all times.

Can't say Sam Mitchell is in my good books, but I'll give you a x2 on that.

Thumbs up

just fire him already

no adjustment skills , if he can't execute the gameplan and exact rotations he prepared before the game he's fucked, well the raps are fucked.
his lack of a playbook . a backdoor play for shooters like kapono and parker ?
when kapono is on the court you have every play running true him , last year there where no plays. delphino for the chuck award.
he doesn't know how to teach these guys , how to box out is great starter lesson for rookies, and for solo-man (mike "cringe'' james) don't jump before you pass the ball off, so you can continue your dribble if you have a broken play.
bah i'm just tired of watching him siting there mad having no idea how to change things up when the shit hits the ...
get someone with a hands on approach that makes players better , don't just stare .

It's not as elementary as you claim. You have to have your starters out together for significant minutes to compete in this league..and you have to rest your starters...especially after a back to back against a tough opponent. There's a reason you're not an nba coach or a kindergarten teacher for that matter...it's harder than it looks

well said swan! it isn't that easy to balance all of the dynamics a team brings every night. i think what the biggest frustration out there is that smitch seems to have a script and can only follow it. Jerry Sloan admitted to putting his away with D-Will out, most of us think smitch is incapable of making the necessary on court adjustments at this point. getting the talent to the bench is not his job, but getting them to play on the floor is. that much we can put on his shoulders!

Sam Mitchel isn't a lousy coach, if he sucked so bad i'm pretty sure Colangelo would fire him.

I would say he is an average coach

He is better than some coaches out there but not that good. And Ex2K I agree with what you said. If I had it my way though I would've fired him already

Lets hope so because he has no clue how to get the most out of his guys. And I'm sorry he is over hyping Jamario as well. The Raps should go with a big lineup with Barg at the 3 hole and nail moons ass to the bench where he bewlongs.

How does it prove your point even more? You implied that they were worse than Sam because they were newer coaches yet they have about 15 years of NBA head coaching experience between them.
