Default Sacrificial lambs of Miami

As of this morning, reports indicate that all three players agreed to take less than the max deals. Wade will start with "meager" $14 mil/year salary while LeBron and Bosh agreed to be paid $14.5 mil each for the 2010-11 season. Considering that Miami has moved Beasley to Minny for nothing and only have about $800K of Chalmers' contract on their books for the upcoming season, with the cap set at roughly $58 mil, they actually have money under the cap left to spend on the rest of the roster before they resort to using veteran exceptions!

58 - 14.5 - 14.5 - 14 - 0.8 = 14.2 mil.

That's got to be enough for Miller and even, perhaps, a decent starting centre. After that - say hello to a bunch of vet exceptions.

6Mil/yr - Miller

Vet min- Ilgauskas

Vet min- Shaq (doubtful)

5Mil/yr- Barnes?

The rest will be min.

Boy if Lebron or Wade go down that'll be trouble. Hell if Bosh goes down who's his backup?

Yeah, front court is going to be an issue, although they are trying to being back Haslem.

Also, Fisher is talking to Riley - why? If they are after Miller, I was assuming that Wade starts at point. If Fisher does instead, then Wade is @ 2 and Miller comes off the bench?

Chalmers is their PG, who backs him up? Wade? Someone on the cheap? I think they'll have a few D leaguers for sure.

given that there's "miami" in the title of this thread, just saw a video linked off of espn that I can't help but add here...

"here comes the giant royal penis... south beach open your legs"

"run the point night"

"size matters, but it's the thickness and width they want"

this guy is hilarious...

Haslem indeed would be a perfect fit for them.

Actually, it's not $14.2 mil, but $8.3 mil that the Heat have to play with, according to the great Larry Coon. Read more for details.

They're thinking about making Bron run the point.

They have a lot of options. Wade can play the point defensively. Chalmers would be a backup. Fisher could be brought in to start. But as long as someone in this lineup is able to defend point guards, offensively you don't need a point guard per se, having Wade and James in your lineup.

The real problem for this team is going to be the front-court. Bosh is there and, let's say, Anthony is retained. What's next? Haslem on vet minimum for a year and a wink-wink deal promised next season? Could be, but would he take it with the lockout looming large? Shaq agreeing to play for, essentially, free? If I were him, I'd do it, because he has A LOT of money already and it'd be fun and Kobe is one ring ahead.

It's going to be interesting.

Shoulda kept beasley. Bosh was an unneeded luxury

Again hope Wade gets injured as usual and Bosh's knees slowly go out on him

Question how happy will the Plarers Union be about this?
Going into a NEW CBA with the 2 top free agents and wolf pup signing for less than MAX.
