I don't buy this. They're a profitable team, top 10-15 in the NBA. They're probably the 2nd most profitable pro sports team in the city since the Jays payroll is now 120mil. lol

True enough, but as Basketball is taking off in this country and more and more Canadians play in the NBA, sell a profitable NBA team? Maybe they would poke around to see their worth right now at their lowest and when they turn it around try to get a lot more?

that's crazy, maybe MLSE was up for sale, Raptors by themselves are worth less than Raptors as part of MLSE with all the synergies

maybe this guy is referring to the MLSE chunk that was up for sale last year.

If they can make some big $$$ is it a good enough reason to flip the team and sell? I don't know...

Maybe MLSE tried selling them off separately?

that I don't buy, makes no sense when there are so many leverages. Lots of corporations buy raptor tickets because they get bundled with leafs, by itself, they would have to sell cheaper tickets on average. That's pretty much common knowledge, so any potential buyer would know it too

Could be, but transactions always start with a rumour. We will see in the next week or so if it dies slowly or picks up.

this is already a couple days old and states they "were" on the market. I think it's dead, at least for now.

The gist of the original piece was that no teams were up for sale. The short paragraph in question appears sloppy and lazy and irrelevant. It should have been edited out. Instead it inspires another sloppy and lazy and irrelevant blog.

A number of teams have been pulled of the market, including Minnesota? Yeah, just list that one and I'll be convinced that you aren't just winging it on sketchy knowledge of a number of teams. Wait - one is a number. Then toss out a couple of "rumored" for sale signs. And there still is no decipherable angle. It's just a sad attempt to add a little spice to an Adam Silver sliver of a press release.

Doesn't really follow the path that mlse wants to do and that's owning significant sports franchises in Toronto

The Raptors were for sale, they were also purchased (with the leafs).
The article is completely accurate, just horrible reporting as always.
